John McCaffrey completley destroyed him in the first half and scored 5, yes 5, points from play off him. Only when he went to Wing Forward did he acheive any sort of tangible result.
Some of McCaffrey's points were superb. He was drilling them over from half way from sport. I'd consider midfielders slightly less culpable for their man scoring as they aren't doing a simple man-to-man marking job. However I think Mahon's best work was on the half forward line where he helped disrupt the Dublin half back line and was a factor in Offaly getting on top there.

Daniel currams had a good game as well scored a nice point unlucky not to get another one.
he also caught some great balls in the second half and the ref should have gave him a few frees as he was pulled a few times going through. he's a hardy buck as well a few dubs were
hopping off him in the second half. BNMM i think offaly are alot better than 10 in the country i don't care what people say we are a better hurling team than clare, wexford, dublin,
limerick, laois, the cats tipp, galway, cork, waterford, are ahead of us we are about the 6 in
the country at the moment.

just another thing here before i leave this, doe's anyone notice how much the forward line
has improve since derek molloy has came back into it, hurl well on sunday he is after filling
out alot in the last year. if he gets more hurling and the dry ball i think he will make a good
centre forward for this summer's championship opener against antrim in parnell park.

On this game, we had a good win. Any win we get is a good win these days. Strangely enough there is lots of room for improvement by several individuals.
Dublin looked like they were going to go on and hockey us early in the second half as they had good movement and were winning all the dirty ball. Our lads looked heavy legged and were out of it in the middle with Rory, Mahon & Brady not at the races.Dublin midfield scored 7 points, and I do have a problem with that. Midfielders need to track their men and we al know how dangerous McCaffrey can be when he shoots. However when we crowded this area in te second half and when the wind whipped up a bit we really kicked on.
We showed a level of enthusiasm for the battle when we got a bit of momentum going and what they need to do now is build on the level of aggression. It was frustrating to watch the difference in economy of movement amongst the Dubs compared to us, we constantly took the wrong option on the ball. But at the same time they really got stuck in when the game looked to be going away from us and that was great to see from a supporters point of view. We will have a tough test below in Galway on Saturday night, but it is now one the players should relish.
As for the Dubs, well they had every reason to be confident coming to Tullamore. We got our win and we need to build on it, they have a tough run of matches but they will play better than they did today, and they will need to.

I dont think anyone is getting carried away, I think Offaly people are just delighted to get the win against the dubs, we all were thinking we were capable of doing it, especially in oconnor park, but i think were more relived than anything to get the two points.
On Conor Mahon, he doesnt have much hurling in him, but he makes up for a lot of it with sheer physicality and running. He makes his man work, along with a few others, we can do with him on the half forward line most days, but can someone make him practice for half an hour a day on his shooting please!!! He is never going to be great but surely we can focus training to each players needs in the year 2010??
On Daniel Currams, i think he is a possibility at centre forward in certain games, he destroyed Coolderry in the county semi final last year, hes not afraid of running at defences from the half forward line, I think he would win a lot of free's in scoreable area's and can take a point too
Tactics, finally we see the Offaly backroom actually use them, We need to be willing to have a different team and a different gameplan each day we take the field. The era of picking your best team for the year and sticking to it doesnt work at club level anymore let alone county level.

I second that. Leinsterman may be making some great points but I'll never know because I've given up reading his posts because I can't decipher them!!
