GAA EXPLAINED IN SOCCER TERMS!!

Post by Rynaghs Biffo »

ANTRIM
Macedonia, disgusting looking jersey
There’s no accounting for taste, I think the saffron looks great....

ARMAGH
Italy , seemingly the best about, look good in their tight fitting Jersey, yet never seem to quite reach their true potential
Exaggeration is an understatement! Italy have ALWAYS been one of the best teams, and have won alot over many years. Aramgh are a recent phenomenon, more comparible to Croatia or Serbia....

Carlow
Liechensten
Liechstenstein is a mountainous nation that once drew with Ireland. Carlow is more like Luxembourg, sweet and pretty with a few hills and rivers

Cavan
Hungary- old masters
Fair enough, but hard to compare Virginia & Budapest! Budapest has a way to go yet............

Cork
Germany - always seem to be there or there about
Cork are not as consistent, stable or successful as Germany, more like Russia, the biggest country, very red and often in revolt! Or maybe Argentina......

Clare
Austalia (better at other sports)
The colours nearly match, but how about Sweden?

Derry
Czech Republic
Spot on, always seem to have good squad, often do well in the League (Euro-championship)

Donegal
Denmark, good for a while in early 90’s, still handy
Yes, but maybe Greenland, also part of Denmark, and also a wild place way off up there somewhere on the map!

Down
Croatia, always threatening to do somethin
Ah no, Down have been around alot longer and won more. Yugoslavia maybe, or Czechoslovakia, or Austria even....

Dublin
England, overhyped media-darlings, underachievers
More like Man Utd or Holland - have won alot more than England, and dont employ outside managers!

Fermanagh
Cameroon, going on a run against the odds
Cameroon are one of the top African teams, Fermanagh are more like............Zaire!

Galway
Argentina, have had some classy players and teams over the years
Agreed.

Kerry
Brazil- enuf said
Pity their fans arent more like Brazil...........

Kildare
Belgium- good, not that good though
I would have said Poland, the wide open grassy plains.......or Greece, won the cup once, not likely to again!

Kilkenny
Canada- stick to the stick sports

Laois
Portugal- will the golden era ever amount to anything?
Who’s the Laois Eusebio?

Leitrim
Iceland

Limerick
Latvia- a few good performances, but still not too good

Longford
Northern Ireland, just not that good

Louth
Malta- size matters.
Ah hould on there a wee while, Louth have much more history than Malta - Cyprus might be a comparison (especially around Dundalk!), but you’d have to say Uruguay - a tough place, won the cup a long time back, done nothing since and still considered "a traditional power"

Mayo
Spain- how have they not won more?

Meath
Nigeria- a tough team.
Or Argentina, again! Or Turkey......

Monaghan
Scotland- could beat anyone, could lose to anyone

Offaly
Russia, can be dangerous.
More like Turkey, gobble alot, play with great passion, write them off at your peril!

Roscommon
Albania, deprived of resources
Without the mountains! More like Romania......crazy travelling folk who like getting "semi-naked"!

Sligo
Israel- can be tricky

Tipperary
Liberia, relied on one man for too long

Tyrone
France- great individuals

Waterford
Kazakhstan- whipping boys

Westmeath
Bolivia- not a bad team, but have lived in the shadows of great neighbours

Wexford
South Korea- are they better than we think?

Wicklow
Albania, rugged country will give anyone a run at home![/b]

Myself and a college friend compiled that over a year ago, anyone got anything to add to it?
