Tullamore relatively comfortable winners tonight against Ferbane. Both sides were down a lot of starters.

Tullamore should account for Edenderry in the final and it’s hard at this vantage point to see past Tullamore in the championship either.

Wouldn’t read too much into that result but I’m sure Ferbane will be disappointed that the losing streak continues against Tullamore .
Tullamore missing 7/8 starters Ferbane missing around the same but introduced a few of them . Luke Plunkett is also back from his travels for Tullamore and will strengthen Tullamore
Edenderry are nearly at Full strength so should be a good league final.

Wouldn’t read much into it either other than the fact Tullamore have more depth than Ferbane.

Ferbane have a good 15 but beyond that there’s a drop off.

Both down about 7 players so it shows how far off the pace some of the other clubs are.

It should be them two in the champo final.

I wonder when Edenderry will realise their potential of inter county players 3 currentl, plus Cian Farrell, and win the Football Championship?

They were so poor in last year’s semi final against Tullamore that it’s hard to see. They don’t appear to have strong underage teams either.

Edenderry won the minor 4 years ago so some of those players should be coming thru now even tho they were soundly beaten by Tullamore in last years U20 . Looking at their team for the league semi final they are at full strength and are obviously pushing hard to win the league. Looking at them last year in both the league final and the county semi final vs Tullamore they were very poor and their attitude was poor and didn’t look fit. I’d presume the new MGT have sorted out some of those issues they will be there or thereabouts this year and ya just never know on the day a team could have a bad day and be beaten
The group 1 of the championship will have a lot of twists and turns id imagine with Ferbane Edenderry Rhode ballycommon and durrow

I see from Kevin Corrigans article online that Leon fox has transferred to a club in Louth which probably finishes his club career in Offaly . He gave his all for Ferbane and was very unlucky not to have won another one or 2 Dowling cups. He was as hard as nails and a decent footballer who wore his heart on his sleeve and Ferbane will sorely miss him. According to the article Joe Maher and Ronan McGuire aren’t available to Ferbane this year too. Joe Maher is big loss too he scored 4/5 points in the county final last year They still have the talent in their ranks to beat most teams but those loses will weaken them

It’s massive loss to see Leon go but all that travelling will take it toll he gave it everything just one those great players who was just unlucky not have won more but shows it’s not all about winning he broke into Ferbane snd belmonts senior teams at a young age.

Ferbane will just have to find another man to step up and fill the big loss ,

It’s a pity that Ronan and Joe are not playing 2 great players but again it opens the door for someone else to try and nail a spot

Agree re Fox. A warrior over the years for both Ferbane and Belmont and deserved one or two more medals than he won but that’s sport. He’s also a rare breed who made championship appearances in both codes for Offaly and indeed won an NHL title with Louth this year.

Belmont have very little chance of qualifying from their group in my view, especially with Oisín Kelly in the US for the Summer but Ferbane losing Fox at 6 is a hammer blow to their hopes.

Maher can still play if he so chooses but McGuire didn’t feature at all last year.

KK, Rynagh’s, Shinrone and Kinnitty.

Yes hard to see Belmont qualify from that group alright.

Kilcormac/Killoughey are nailed on to qualify.

As are Shinrone.

Then it takes a huge leap to envisage a team who lost a semi-final last year by a few points not even qualifying from their group.

That leaves Belmont and Kinnitty battling to avoid the relegation final.

Joe maher scored 6 frees in the final last year, influence was declining big time last couple of seasons seemingly doesn’t want to train at all so rafferty has cut ties probably the right call.

Ronan McGuire couldn’t make the team so not sure how he is a big loss. Ferbane will more than likely meet Tullamore in the county final again whether they can get over the line or not is another story. Belmont haven’t a hope of getting out of the group

Oisin Kelly couldn’t get the summer transfer for New York so he had to transfer altogether. He mightnt be eligible to hurl for Belmont on his return this year. When he told hurling management he was going to miss the first 3 games, they told him not to bother coming back this year, which seems mental. Paddy Clancy is home but needs a small operation on his knee. Leon Fox has transferred to Dreadnots in Louth.

It’s not mental.

They’ll likely lose their first three games and be knocked out before he comes back.

Relegation playoff probably won’t matter again if KK win the Senior B which seems likely.
