Wow - I'm surprised that Hunt gets a start, but fair play to him all the same, he must be going well. On the other hand, I've said for a long time that the danger with playing Colm Quinn in the role we do is that we have no-one else who can do it in his absence. I can see how Hunt could be the playmaker type, but it's a big ask of him all the same to start doing it now - again he didn't get a lot of league football behind him.

Speaking of the Doon lads, no sign of Jimmy Coughlan, not even on the bench - seems a pity, he did okay after he came on the last day.

Other than that no huge surprises. Paschal needs to get a lot more involved around the midfield, but preferably stay out of trouble while doing so - he should have been sent off the last day. If they line out as named Rafferty will be on Forde detail, I'm not sure if that's the plan though.

I'm surprised that Shaper keeps his place, he hasn't been on form, but looking at the bench, we don't really have a lot there. Sean Ryan to get a run at some stage maybe?

As good a hand as we have.
Damien Hunt could prove himself.
The Shaper won't lack for effort, hopefully the game will go well for him and if not we have a couple of options on the bench.

Sean Ryan may be a good impact sub, but I think he needs another year of prep work. His pace is great, but he makes the occasional error on the ball that more experience should iron out.

Mark Daly will be a big unknown. He might need to be called on to help midfield, or else as a playmaker with Quinn gone. Depends how sharp he is.

In the full back line, both Casey and Daly can be swapped on if Forde is roasting backs.

If both Dalys were brought on before half time, would it be a sign of panic, a failed game plan or an astute intervention by management? :P

Depends what's happening. If Wexford are eating up ball around the middle and Forde has four points from play in the first 35, I don't care if it's a sign of panic - make the switches.

I know we're down a few guys through injury etc., but the lack of depth is pretty stark there. Anyone we bring on will either be a recent return to the squad, an untried youngster in need of experience, or a player with known question marks.

I'd assume he's missing for some reason like injury. I couldn't see him being dropped from the bench, in all fairness.

I took the team from the official Offaly website so if any mistakes are made it there fault, not mine.

Can anyone tell me what John Reynolds has done to earn his place back? I haven't seen him play a good game for Offaly since ....... since ........... well ..........

IMHO, if none of the available subs are deemed good enough to start in his place, that worries me more than the threat of Mattie Forde.

Honest answer, I would have picked someone else in his place - but possibly they wanted to limit the number of raw players I suspect.

I just hope that if he needs replacing, we don't wait til 60 mins in to do it.
