Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship 2024

Post by faithfulfanatic »

Hard to see past KK again this year, even with their younger lads named for Senior A.
They have plenty more off the 20s panel and the likes of Gorman and Currams eligible.

Interesting to see how Clodiagh Gaels go after a full year of training and hurling with the club for Keenaghan and the Langtons.

Carrig fancied in the Tribune to win the championship, I can’t see it.

Lusmagh dealt a cruel blow with the loss to shoulder injuries of their county men, Eimhin and Ruairi Kelly.

Clara with 4 off the u20s panel will fancy themselves.

Birr seniors missing a few this year which should affect their second team massively, along with the likes of Miller and Ailbe Watkins making the natural step up.

Shocking to hear of the sickening abuse from some Clara supporters that was directed at Gary Cahill in their round 2 clash which Birr won by 3.

And as for what 2 injured players said.. they might want to read a history book of Offaly GAA

Was at the game and knew there was filth being shouted but didn’t realise to the extent it was as I was away from the main crowd. As low as you can go.

2 injured players who recently picked up national medals asked Gary who the f**k he was and what had he ever won…

I was at it too. Birr mgt were trying to be cute whores. Lots of roaring at opposition players. Conor Doyle specically targeted both verbally and physically. Finger to the eye was not nice.......
Clara ill disciplined also. Roaring and shouting. Late pulls and been overly physical.

Great win for carrig. Much better team. 26 to 1-16 winners over birr.
Lusma with a very important win vs clodaigh gaels. Championship is getting wlvery tight now.

Great win for Carrig but Birr are struggling with numbers because of lads travelling it's really hitting there second string team.
Number 11 for Carrig was excellent. You would imagine this could be kks second team to lose again

Hard on Birr with the few lads away, seems to be affecting the second team more than the first.
They did right well to get a win the last day and are still probably one win away from a semi final.
No.11 for Carrig is young Lee Hogan I believe.
Was at a Carrig game recently expecting Cathal King and Joe Hoctor to dominate but it was Hogan’s point taking from all angles that caught my eye.

Big shock to see Lusmagh beat Clodiagh Gaels to throw the whole thing wide open.
Leaves CG bottom on a point.
It felt odd to see that Brian Gavin reffed that game.
No slight on the man at all but is it not a vested interest given that his own club are directly affected by that result?

Anyone with a report of either game?

All 3 games went as expected on Saturday, with Kilcormac overcoming Carrig, Clodiagh Gaels beating Clara and Lusmagh beating Birr.

That leaves it all to play for going into the final round.

Kilcormac are assured of top spot.
Carrig are through but could come anywhere from 2nd to 4th.
The remaining 2 spots are wide open.

It is 2 days now since these games took place and not a single article or roundup from the Tribune/Express or their sports writers.

This is in contrast to the football championship where we had in-depth match reports from Senior B games and even an intermediate game last week.

I would not rule out clodiagh gaels and would but rule them out winning it.

Have kk brought up any of their senior Bs up to play senior A?

Alex Kavanagh came on today for KK for last few mins after scoring 3 points for Senior B's yesterday.

Not sure what rationale would be behind this ? Obviously meaning he can't play in the Senior B now. The A's were through already and today's game was more or less over when he came on so not sure why he would come on?
