Tipsters Competition - a Separate Regional Table.

So should we do this? I was thinking that seeing as the North/West Offaly split on this site is pretty pronounced sometimes ( :D ) maybe we should do a regional contest on the side? For each scoring round, the top three scorers for each region contribute to their overall tally. But to do this, I'd need to know where everyone is from (I'd say I do with most, but even so .....)

As for regions, I imagine we'd have 4:

West Offaly Partnership (The team everyone wants to beat - Ferbane and suburbs, including Cloghan, Shannonbridge, Doon etc..... over as far as Ballycumber and Tubber)

Mid Offaly (The "Urban" boys - Tullamore, Clara, Gracefield, probably including Shamrocks)

North Offaly (The free and wild republics of Rhode, Edenderry, Daingean parishes etc)

Hurling Offaly (Speaks for itself!!)

I'd need to know the allegiance of a few grey area people - Rynagh's Biffo for example? Plain of the Herbs is one of us, RB, I'm less sure of!

Anyway, is this just an extra layer of messing, or would it prove a famous point?? :D

I'd be up for that :) Although I'm not sure the West Offaly massive would benefit too much from my 'expertise' :)

Any competition that is for fun is always worth it. However, I remain to be convinced as to what "point" will be proved at the end.

Up Norn Awflee !

As a former Rynaghs player I would consider myself part of "Hurling Offaly"

I'm going to give this a go, so anyone that I'm not sure of, feel free to let me know what team you want to play for!

We might struggle to make up "Urban Offaly" actually - I'm hoping Black and Red Exile, Seamróga, BnaM Man and a few others will be along to try and flesh out that team - so far only Bogman is on board. Ye need a strong panel to compete at this level lads!

(Incidentally if anyone wants to put another name on that Mid Offaly selection, just let me know ....... :D )

Id be up for the laugh, id be a suburbs man myself (ie Shamrocks, tuyllamore, Clara Gracefield), but wouldnt be fond of the sound of that, Mid Offaly has a nice ring to it! :)

I wouldn't mind trying to impress in this competition either. 'Urban Boys' doesn't appeal I'm afraid; I'm actually an anti-urbanite myself.
How about a name that reflects our commitment to promoting both Gaelic football and hurling in these parts of the country!

I'd say it will go by Mid-Offaly, unless anyone has anything better to call it. I know large tracts aren't urban - much like I know Gracefield is a long way from some of those clubs - but in order to make a decent outfit together I had to add a little bit more than just Tullamore and environs!

The dual status of three clubs in the jurisdiction is well noted, but I'd be very harsh on my own parish if I was to suggest it was exclusive to that area .....

Other names more than welcome though!

why dont you just call us the Townies... and then get all fired up and frothing at the mouth at the thoughts of beating us...seems to have worked for long enough.

Plain of the Herbs is Sassenach for Lusmá. Guess that puts me in the hurling area category.

Apologies POTH - I had you for the Belmont vicinity - which I was claiming to bring some much needed hurling expertise to the West Offaly team.......

Our odds just drifted .......

I'd say that Leroy could be from Tullamore since he's using the Phoenix Rising from the Ashes Crest and he's tipping Tullamore to beat Rhode. What do you think?
