Typical bland stuff really - as per a February Sunday with not much intercounty football action to fill the sports pages.
Mc Manus must definitely be the most interviewed man in Irish sport - maybe the GPA could add this to thier list of grievences for GAA players. You know, they have to spend 20 mins on their mobile taking the phone call for these interviews. This caused the mobile to go low on juice, which had to be recharged at the players own expense and time... a clear case for Dessie to jump on.

I wouldn't be too harsh on Mac here - he just seems to be more accomodating than most when it comes to picking up the phone to these guys, and he's also a little bit more inclined to speak from the heart than other lads who might just rhyme off 50 cliches in no particular order. Same reason why we hear a lot from John McIntyre.
It's hard to know what to do with this - it's a bit of a vicious circle. The pain of losing the close games is still fresh, which means that the nerves when the close games come around is evident. It's kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. It's a sad indictment, but you get the feeling that we don't need a trainer, we need a Loughnane-esque Messiah who will lead his players to the promised land. Someone whose very demeanour will inspire faith. I'm not sure where it will come from though.
At the moment it's odds on Stephen Darby will be the man in charge in 2007, given that he actually wants the job of course - but not knowing much about his style, how would he fit? Any Rhode folk out there care to comment?

I cant comment as to who would get the Offaly senior job in 2007 but if Darby did get appointed it would be a positive step forward for Offaly football as he is (from what i hear) an excellant man manager and he is meticulous in his planning for Rhode.
However I would imagine that Ritchie Connor would be in with a decent shout as he was very close to getting it the last time.
