Just wondering why are some of the u21 championship games on at the same time as the rugby on sat?as a sports fan id like to be able to see my club and country play!cant understand why these games are fixed when alot of the players and fans have a interest in both!!

There’s a valid argument not to have those matches during midweek, which leaves the weekend.
Really now, if they were to try and pick a time when there’s no matches on television then local matches would never get played. There’d never be a match on a Sunday because it would clash with the English soccer which seems to go on all day of a Sunday, then the Spanish soccer on Sunday night. There’s 2 rugby matches on telly today, followed by English soccer in th’evening too.
I’d have some degree of sympathy for fellas who are playing junior soccer on Sunday morning, or junior rugby on a Sunday afternoon. Beyond that, there’s greyhounds in the evenings, horse racing during the day . . . where do you draw the line?

Remember when Ireland faced England in a Grand Slam decider in 2003? All NHL matches were switched to the Saturday at the behest of that great sporting ecumenist Martin Breheny. What happened? Offaly were playing Wexford in Wexford in a vital NHL match, Brian Carroll had an exam in UL that day and couldn’t hurl. Cheers Martin.
