Maybe most of you guys (& gals) know this already, but its some early bad news for Offaly Footballers' prospects next year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offaly’s football hopes for 2006 have suffered an early setback with the news that full back Conor Evans is to spend the year in New Zealand and Australia.

The Ballyfore man will depart for New Zealand on October 10 and will spend time there before moving on to Australia. He has been one of Offaly’s most consistent performers in recent years and team manager Kevin Kilmurray acknowledged that the former UCD student will be a huge loss.

"He was outstanding last year but you have to look on it positively. It will give someone else the opportunity to stake their claim and I hope someone else steps up to the challenge," he said.

"All that we can do is wish Conor the best of luck and thank him for what he has done for us. I hope he enjoys the year and comes back to us in good shape."

Big loss for Offaly football but he deserves the experiance after all he has put into Offaly football both club and county. Best of luck to him.

A very nice chap indeed and very dedicated too.

Best of luck to him in his ventures.

A pure gent, although he will be a huge loss. With any luck he'll come back with a renewed hunger for beheading Kildare and Laois inside forwards.
