From my limited knowledge of football I just have have 2 really.

1) On what basis does Alan McNamee merit inclusion on that team? I cant remember the last time I saw him playing even remotely well in an Offaly jersey.

2) John Reynolds has never ever worked for Offaly in the half forward line. For Gods sake Mikey Conway made a hare out of him in Portlaoise this year. Its the full forward line or nowehere for him in my opinion.

But as I said earlier my football knowledge is limited to say the least.

At the moment I wouldn't worry too much about the names and positions.
The most important issue is that every player gets decent preparation over the Winter.
This year was a farce when every other county was a couple of months ahead of Offaly in their preparations.

If Tom Cribben can manage to narrow the gap between Offaly and every other county in terms of proper conditioning and cut out the booze culture, then Offaly should be able to give the championship a good rattle.

gunnerman you would have ger rafferly ahead of karol slatterly of gracefield in the team. don't think we will be
giveing meath any trouble so. scott brady centre back don't think so can't catch a ball laois croke park come to mind.

There was a County Final a few weeks ago in Tullamore. You'd have done well to attend it - might prevent ridiculous comments like this

You cant be serious leaving Karol Slattery out of the team?
Especially if you would play someone like Ger Rafferty instead of him.

Yes I agree, dont think we will trouble Meath, but you never know. Love to get a game against Laois and that game would be in O'Connor Park and would attract a large croud.

look i am just saying scott brady was there six year's ago time to move on younger players we want.
i wasn't at the the county final no. and well done to clara on sunday's win as well . scott is not county player or is ger rafferty
for that matter . the county got to 3 minor final's in the last few years and under 21 final has to be player's to pick from there.

I have to disagree with the post above I think that there diffently is a role in the Offaly setup for Scott Brady if for noting else his commitment alone. However I will say that he does lack the speed to play in the backline and probably the height to be a topclass intercounty midfielder but maybe there is a role for him on the 40 pickin up breaks and linking play something that Offaly have struggled with over the last few years.

For what its worth , which probably aint a whole lot these are the players I would like to see on the Offaly Panal this year if available and willing to commit.

Rhode - Brian Darby , Niall Darby , Niall Macnamee , Shane Sullivan , Pascal Kellaghan
Clara - Joe Quinn , Kevin Meehan , Ross Brady , Scott Brady , Thomas Deehan , Matthew Mitchell, john reynolds
Tullamore - Stephen Egan , James Keane , Paul Mconway , Johnny Maloney
Shamrocks - Thomas Coughlan , Neville Coughlan , PJ Ward
Tubber - Ciaran Macmanus , Joe Higgins , Eddie Kavanagh
Pullagh- Alan Lynam
Edenderry - Richie Dalton
Gracefield - Niall Smith , Ruari Allen , Karol Slattery
Durrow - Brian Geraghty
Walsh Island - Brian Connor , Ian Duffy , Willie Mullhall

3 younger players who i was very impressed over the year with the Offaly minors and Club Football were Bernard Allen (Tubber) , Obviously Anton Sullivan (Rhode) and Graham Guilfoyle ( Clara ) these are all outstanding footballers who have a big future but thats what we ave to think about the future it would be in my opinion more benifical for these 3 to be givin another year to develop before stepping up to the senior panal.
