Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on our national sport being played on an English turf...Though we might have been able to source the sod here especially with all that went on in Croker all those years ago???

I couldn't care less. This 'story' (and I use the word very, very lightly) is perhaps the finest example of lazy journalism I've seen in a long time. As if every other element in the structure of Croke Park was sourced in Eire and made by leprechauns in Killarney.

It's a non story, nothing to be discussed. Next question.

Maybe you could stick some of it on the pitch in Birr to sort out the current problems.

agree with greatdayfortheparish, much ado about nothing, the kind of sod they are using is not even grown in Ireland so until the start growing it here, there's nothing to argue about

The pre-cast concrete of Hill 16 was made in Banagher.

That's good enough for me.

Next topic please....

All the steel for the concrete and roof came from British mills.

Agree,... much ado about nothing.

Absolute non-story.
However the media love angling such stories in such a way to portray the GAA as being full of raging bigots who are blowing gaskets at the thoughts of an English pitch in Croke Park.
I'm surprised the newspaper stories didn't trot out the usual cliches about gaels spinning in their graves and the sky falling in.

And the sand and gravel for the pre-cast came from Lusmagh . . . that's good enough for me. :D

I wonder how the Laois crowd who hold us in 'utter contempt' (their words) feel when they trod on their stand in OMP which is made from Banagher pre-cast? :D :D

The Dubs on Hill 16 who proclaim that "Hill 16 is Dublin only", wouldn't be best pleased to be standing on soil from "down da coontry".
