Re: all ireland colleges final
Heartbreak for Edenderry there.
Especially as the attack for the goal came from a free that should have gone the other way. Appalling refereeing call, but these things happen!
They looked in trouble with 15 minutes to go when the Kerry lads had pulled level having being 5 down. However they bravely squeezed ahead against the odds.
The Edenderry platform was set up early in the first half, with them withdrawing most of the forwards and letting Anton Sullivan run riot inside the '45. Surprisingly for Jack O'Connor, he was slow to do anything about this and the score was 4 or 5 to nothing before they pulled back a couple of defenders to crowd him out of it.
The Edenderry support play was great in the first half. You'd have a corner back giving and going and still being part of the move half way up the pitch. Paul Cribbin in midfield has some boot on him too - An awful pity he is from Kildare.
When they ran out of puff in the second half, Edenderry ended up kicking away possession aimlessly. They fell back too much and conceded territory. Colaiste na Sceilge had a couple of very good forwards like O'Dwyer in the corner and started to reel them in. From about the 35th minute, the question was whether the clock would beat na Sceilge or not.
