Well lads n lassies what did ye make of this one?
Was one of about 500/600 in the crowd today - If this is the best we can deliver I'll be shitting it come championsip time whether it be Longford or an ever-improving Westmeath side in the Leinster quarter final.
An over-dependance on classy Niall McNamee might be our downfall if teams decide to stick a man marker or two on him.

Plusses from today's performance:
1 - Niall McNamee on form
2 - Ger Raff solid as ever
3 - Niall Smith, he's got a fair leap on him but will need to start catching the ball more often rather than batting it down
4 - Brian Darby - A natural successor to Karl Slattery perhaps?

Negatives from today:
1-We're not physically commading anywhere, particularly on half back line
2-Midfielders particularly Alan McNamee(Why they call him super is beyond me) definitely not worth his place on the starting 15
3-Scott Brady is not a corner back, dont ask me what he is but he's not a corner back.
4-Paul McConway wasting ball, after ball, after ball....
5-Paschal Keeleghan, not up to it at this level any more I'm afraid.

Overall verdict? We wont be having too many days out in croker this year :( :(

Even though we won, the performance was a bit depressing. The first goal came completely against the run of play when Tipp were hitting wide after wide, and they were missing their top scorer in the league Barry Grogan (suspended) and centre-forward Niall Fitzgerald (injured)!
I agree with alot of what ye say, feck all of the panel given a chance in the league. If fellas are not going to be given a chance in division 4, when will they get a chance? Is it any wonder fella are dropping off the panel like flies?

Cup mix-up causes embarrassment for GAA

From hoganstand, only in the GAA would this happen

"GAA chiefs were left red-faced on Sunday after a trophy mix-up saw NFL Division 3 winners Wexford presented with the O’Byrne Cup and Division 4 champions Offaly receive the Division 3 Cup.

The Division 3 Cup should have been in Parnell Park for the meeting of Wexford and Fermanagh, with its Division 4 equivalent supposed to be in Portlaoise for the Offaly-Tipperary final. However, much to the GAA’s embarrassment, the trophies turned up at the wrong venues.

As a result, the O’Byrne Cup, which was won by Dublin earlier this year, was presented to Wexford - who claimed their first national title in 90 years - while Offaly lifted the Division 3 trophy.

A packaging error was blamed for the mix-up."

Gotchya! :P
I think few people pay attention to the actual trophies though.
You'd be amazed how many cups get left behind in the pub, or forgotten about after the celebrations are done.

I know of trophy presentations where the winner from the previous year failed to return the cup in time and an alternative had to whipped at short notice from a cabinet.
Apart from Sam and Liam and maybe Bob, I wouldn't have a clue what most of the GAA trophies look like.

The cup presented at the weekend bears a striking resemblance to the trophy presentated at the end of the priests sports day in Fr. Ted.

If that was the div3 cup, how small is the division 4 one!

Better pic in the metro this morning.

No wonder the GAA want to drill holes in the Sam Maguire et al to stop lads drinking out of them

It could have been a lot worse. This particular ladies golf prize might have raised a few eyebrows...
