I was in section 309 of the Cusack y'day. There were a group of lads and lassies behind us from Offaly, about 16-18 or 20 years of age I reckon. I was told they were from Mucklagh but I can't confirm that. They had some lovley little ditties like "I'd rahter be a Paki than a Dub" and "If I had the wings of a sparrow......". I'm no angel at matches and my language can be choice at times, but they were an embarassment to their county, and they should have known better.

Theres been a few postings about this but the only way to deal with this is for those around them to put these lads in their place, not much point complaining about it here.

I was trying to tell the Dubs around me in the Canal End to stop booing Niall Mc's frees in the second half. Little good that did me.

There was a young, 15-18, lad in front of me who at one stage got very worked up and was loudly questioning the pedigree of on of the Dublin players. His mammy, two seats down, just leaned over and tapped him on the shoulder, and that quietened him down a bit. Class

Off the point but almost as sickening as Offaly's display was listening to supposed Dublin fans displaying their ignorance, obviously part of the summer only brigade. One guy was giving a very detailed run down of the Dublin team to his mate who must have been a first time visitor and explaining how they had played Offaly in the final 2 or 3 years ago and that they expected to be playing Wexford or Louth in the final but it didn't really matter as they would win it anyway. This wasn't just an isolated idiot, I couldn't believe some of the nonsense I was hearing around me especially on the way out. Great stuff.

No, I wouldn't expect anyone to go at it on their own. It needs a general groundswell against the likes of these lads.
