For anyone who might have been planning on going along, apparently Lusmagh vs Belmont has been moved. Now Sunday evening, at 6pm in Carrig. Why they're playing the match in Tipperary when decent pitches like Mountbolus (even allowing for the perennial wind!!) or Birr are unused is another matter, but anyway.

Thinking outside the box, I wonder would Shannonbridge be good enough for a hurling match? I've certainly always thought it was one of the best surfaces around.

played league football on a couple of occasions down in Shannonbridge in the past few years both in early spring and in high summer and i can unequivocally say that it is a surface not suited to hurling championship matches. it has a few holes in here and there and there is a small bit of gradient going up towards the club house end.

Lads just saw that Central Council is meeting tonight to decide on our proposal for the league. If we're succesful whats the chances of these matches going ahead at all as we'll have to hurl our sledger neighbours next weekend. Be some sickener for the club hurlers to have the games called off at that sort of short notice.
