Just to get a viewpoint from everyone. Are we now no 4 in Leinster hurling behind Kilkenny, Wexford and Dublin? I am of the opinion that as of this moment, and with the Dubs making great strides in the league, is that sadly we have fallen to be the 4th best team in Leinster and dare I say it but probably no 10 in the country
It is a very sad fall from grace from a county that appeared in an all Ireland final only six and a half years ago.
ARE WE NOW NUMBER 4 IN LEINSTER?

It's a bit like the World Snooker rankings - the official rankings take a long time to catch up with current form. Until they beat us in a championship game, it's a hypothetical question, but we hold the higher official ranking - indeed long and all since we've been waiting for a significant win, they are waiting longer. However there is a big difference between now and 1991 - in 1991 Dublin beat us in a one off upset - the next time they beat us it'll be because they are the better team with better players.
If we were playing tomorrow though, as a bookie there's no question who I'm make favourites - 1/2 the Dubs in Parnell Park, 4/6 in a neutral venue, pickem match in Birr.

Padraig Horan said Offaly were the 6th best team in Leinster back in 2004.
It has been flagged for a long time now, but Dublin overtaking us seems inevitable and may have already happened. They probably would have beaten us in 2005 or '06, had they not leaked so many players to football and been poorly managed for a while by Humphrey Kelleher.
Though the thing is, at minor and U21, Dublin have only had slightly better teams than us in the last 4 or 5 years. However they always give Kilkenny a better game than we do, as Offaly traditionally lie easily for the Cats. When Offaly have played Dublin in underage games, there hasn't been much in it.
In a Leinster championship game, Offaly would still be my slight favourites. In a qualifier match, Dublin would now be likely to shade it.

You can really only judge on championship results, manys a team have flattered to deceive in March. But Dublin do appear to be progressing to number 3.
I am old enough to remember being brought to games in the mid 70's when Offaly were cannon fodder (what ever that is) for Kilkenny and Wexford, a few good players but not at the races. I think we are back there again I'm afraid.
