Watched Laochra Gael last night on the Dooleys, always sends a shiver down my spine watching the last 5 minutes of 94, even to this day.
I feel very lucky to have lived through a golden period in Offaly hurling, something to keep us all going through these slighty duller days.

I saw this for the first time last Tuesday - it was thoroughly enjoyable, but a few things occurred to me all the same.

(1) TG4 could really have done their research a bit better. The likes of the comment about Clareen winning a rake of county championships in a row, there was no need for that. Just highlight how few houses they are picking from and that would do.

(2) Equally, a lot of the footage ended up being repeated. We saw a few of the same clips over and over, while surely there was a lot more footage in the archives if they went looking, certainly in the nineties if not during Joe's time in the 80's.

(3) It kind of brings home how unrealistic our expectations are to a certain degree. Back then we won three minor titles in four years to provide the players to backbone the success of the 1990's. We're expecting a lot now off one Leinster title seven years ago.

(4) Finally, and most heart warming off all, you get the feeling that all soccer players should be made watch that, just to see what true sporting heroes are like - did you ever see three more unassuming lads in your life? Billy in particular was like a child in front of the camera. Great stuff.

Agree LS, same footage kept on been repeated, if I recall one of the greatest peformances by an Offaly Team was the LF in 95 against Kilkenny, the 3 Dooleys were class act that day, although it was great to see some of those clips from those glory days

I saw it last night for the first time too. I think the montages of random footage went on too long, in fact it took up half the programme rather than just being a taster. A few bloopers like the county titles one and also claiming that Joe scored 2 goals in the '85 All Ireland when it was Pat Cleary

Certain matches were skimmed over as mentioned. The '95 Leinster final. Greater viewing of the '99 and '00 campaigns would have thrown up plenty of brilliant points that Johnny scored from out around midfield.
