I noticed that Birr had a good win against Banagher college in the schools Senior Hurling league this week.

Does anyone have any idea what the next batch coming through will be like?

I was thinking, would an Offaly schools league be of benefit?
You would have Birr, Banagher, Kilcormac, Colaiste choilm in Tullamore, Clara, Tullamore College, Cistercian Roscrea and Killina Presentation - two groups of 4...
Might be something to feed into our combined schools team perhaps which I think is of vital importance for player development.

Not sure of it’s benefit really.

Firstly young players in Offaly currently have a comprehensive games schedule with their clubs (kudos to county board here)

Then all those players play both league and championship with their schools at a grade that suits their ability. So they should be competitive in all games as they are nominally playing teams at their level. For example what benefit would it be to anyone to have Colaiste Choilm hammer say CC Roscrea in an Offaly league game when they can both play Leinster League at a suitable grading.

Probably the last thing our underage intercounty hurlers need is another competition to be entered into. They already would have:
Intercounty minor championship
Leinster School League
Leinster Schools Championship
Leinster Schools Championship (Offaly Schools)
Minor Club League
Minor Club Championship

[ /quote]

he couldnt have broken his jaw as he connected with his shoulder, video & photo proves that. thats why tipp appealed they couldnt if it was to the head. the tackle was a hard one but a yellow

And for the county board to tell both teams to move onto the next pitch and "keep playing" while a child lay waiting for an ambulance was an absolute disgrace. No regard for child or player welfare.

The ref was poor for both sides but that does not excuse the behaviour of 2 of Tullamore mentors who were an embarrassment to the club and should be held accountable by both the club and the county board no way to behave in front of underage players
At the end of the day there was a serious incident at the end of the game where a Birr player received a red card for the tackle on a Tullamore player the Tullamore player was knocked out for a few minutes but thenkfully the player is ok .
The venue for the re fixture is strange but some of the venues in recent weeks have been very strange some clubs have to travel a lot further than others where there appears to be more neutral venues available

Was this the refs decision or was their an official at it asking clubs to move?

How has that game been fixed for Coolderry on a wednesday night? Completely unfair on the tullamore lads having to drive down through Birr to hurl a match. Is Fiathful Fields out of action?
The pitches have to be minded in the faithful fields don't you know.
God forbid they would actually be used.
Its minded like croke park.
