Not as high profile as the other lads from the playing point of view but done a couple of stints as chairman of the club. Not an easy task.

Fair dues to Shane on turning in a fine display in the Honda classic at what would be a difficult time for him.

Lowry is going well at the halfway mark of the Open. A hiccup on the 11th but he recovered well.
I'd expect yer man Daniel Brown to fall away when he remembers he's Daniel Brown.
Sheffler looks like the lad most likely to trouble Shane on the final two days.

That took some guts from Shane to carve out the half in the Ryder Cup. Him and McIlroy especially had experienced a hostile time from the crowd, so it's the best way to shush the trash talkers.

Had he lost, there is no guarantee that Tyrrell Hatton or Robert MacIntyre would have held on for halves in the final matches. The home crowd would have stayed and bolstered their opponents.

By the same token, if the openers Rose and Fleetwood hadn't lost on the final hole and if Fitzpatrick hadn't blown up when 5-up, Europe would have had an easier time in the remaining matches and gathered more points.

It's a crazy tournament at times. In 1999 Europe were overturned on the final day when a similar home crowd that helped fire up an amazing comeback.
