Smoking drinking covering 5k on the pitch and playing a game that is unrecognisable today.. pick any player off the field as he was in he 80s and he'd struggle in a club junior b game now.. fact!! Same with soccer.. seen a stat players in the 80s covered 4k a game compared to 11k now.. they wouldnt get near the ball.. matt connor as he was in 1980s would not get a possesion of the ball in a junior championship match today!!! All teams now maiximise every resourse so the ones with the most win the most
Genuinely, I'd actually be embarrassed for you to make a statement like that regarding Matt Connor and the rest of that Offaly team.

Of course the game has changed and fitness levels have improved but don't for a second say those lads in to 70's and 80's were not fit. That great Kerry team who were super fit and with some of the greatest of all time were beaten by Offaly. Offaly won a number of Leinster titles through those years. Mugs don't do that. You clearly are a clueless young lad with a wrong opinion about what went on in the past. No team from that era that won an All Ireland were not fit. Did you ever see Jack O Se play football, or Pat Spillane or Sean Walsh for that matter. I saw them in the flesh and they were phenomenal athletes! Your statement is probably the most outlandish statement ever posted on this forum Tmc, and there has been a fair few of those over the years!

Lads, ye are better off not engaging with the village idiot and his multiple accounts.

matt connor would be a superstar in any era, as would brian whelehan. i never read such shite in all my life. young men fit into the training regimes of the era they are born into. its very disrespectful to past offaly legends to even suggest that.

I'm referring to the relentlessly argumentative poster who hasn't offered one piece of opinion or analysis on a single game this year.

Just dozens and dozens of posts regurgitating the same shite and making the same point 100 times over, having a hissyfit every time someone says something he doesn't like. Who won't tolerate one single bit of discussion about the set up without mentioning the injuries for the 100th time and telling outright lies about players not in there this year.

Right enough arguing. As much as I might agree, we’ve a team to support in just under a fortnight.

Clare in Ennis. Never easy.

Going to be very tough in Ennis
We didn't play well there last year
We will probably be playing the following week
But hope springs eternal.
Have we any challenge games on the horizon?

You are well briefed for a man swearing vengeance on management....you clearly have one focus in mind.
So tell us, how did the game go after?

Would expect very few from Offaly to travel 2 hours for that. Lots of GAA people with kids that might go etc would be involved in matches themselves on a Saturday morning I'd imagine, and going to Ennis for 3.30pm to get to match will be a very hard sell, given we barely got anyone to Cavan or Meath matches and Laois at home poorly supported.

Out of interest, I'd be interested to hear the teams that lined out in Galway game and does it signal anyone else bar who and what we have seen to date....

I wasn't at the game, but anyone could hear about a challenge match that's on. I haven't a clue how they got on. Behindthegoal has stated they won, maybe he knows who played well or what went on.

I can see players who haven't featured much getting game time in the Tailteann. Our League and championship players didn't exactly work so I can see them throwing in lads who haven't featured yet in hope of some turnaround.
