Say about 4 will start senior hurling this year. Screeney, ravenhill, Shirley, and maybe Liam Hoare judging by how he is training.

Troys puck outs aren't up to scratch i think that's why Hoare gets vote there.

Rigney and Ter Guinan start for the seniors once they're fit... could make a case for James Mahon too, he was probably the only KK young lad who looked at home against Na Fianna

Priority has to be the u20 team this year though.. it's going to be hard managed this year no matter how good relations are between the two mgmt teams but 3 in a row at Leinster u20 vs barely staying up in the senior.... That senior leinster champ is an awful slog, 5 matches to potentially end up ina prelim final.. Offaly played 3 matches to win the all ireland in 81

I think it’s almost forgotten that the senior hurling panel have gotten the following players from this current crop already if we discount those eligible for U20 this year:

Mark Troy
Luke Watkins
Sam Bourke
Colin Spain
Cathal King
Dan Bourke
Charlie Mitchell

That’s 7 excellent hurlers brought into the panel. How many more do they want? We could clearly bring in too many. In fact those 7 along with the best of what was there already should be the panel in my view. Let Screeney, Kavanagh et al complete their underage development. It will stand to us better in the long term.

Rigney is nowhere near starting for the seniors yet.
I also don’t know where Ter and Mahon fit in yet, with Burke, King, Conneely etc

Ter Guinan is a definite starter for me when fit.
Rigney very close also.

Still favour prioritising u20’s this year

James Mahon will be there or there abouts come championship time. a fine corner or fullback .

a goalkeepers job is to keep the ball out of the net. and Mark Troy is a top class goalkeeper done nothing wrong last
year and his save in the McDonagh cup final again leix was top class. and was also very good for the under 20 in there run to the under 20 hurling final of 2023.

A goalkeeper s job is a little more than that. 30 plus puckouts per game.

i don't see anything wrong with Mark Troy's puck outs . his a good strike of a ball and has played underage for
offaly in the forward line.

One shot my guess is your a B/D man?
Top intercounty goalies i would say are picked on puck outs over shot stopping over the last few years. He struggles to puck long balls at decent pace and height to hand how're doesn't. He will make a good back up goalie but not in hoares league

Considering the Offaly U20’s don’t do any semblance of a short to medium puck out strategy it’s hard as of yet to judge Liam Hoare’s ability in this regard while playing at a high level.

No i am not B/D man as you say but i don't think johnny kelly would drop Mark Troy from his first 15 his done nothing
wrong to lose his place. Liam Hoare is another top class keeper and another year under 20 for him he could be back up to Troy . Kilkenny's Eoin Murphy isn't knowing for his great puck outs but his one of the best in the game.

Troy will be first choice to begin with and it's great to have such talent in the senior squad. You don't need to do anything wrong to be replaced, it can be that others are just better. League coming up soon so should be great interest in the county when that gets going.
