Is it too early to assess the affect the new rules are having at underage?
There was disgruntlement last year, for certain underage games, when Offaly were deploying mass defences, leading to extremely low scoring contests.

I've seen one match on Sat at county level. So for me thats too early. At county level though, and particularly with U20 up north, indications are that the strong teams are winning by more than normal (Tyrone and Armagh dished out serious hammerings).
On Sat all I could say was that if Offaly didnt win the first ball, Dublin cut through them with not a hand on them. No exageration to say they could have had 7 in forst half. But we could have had 4.
Dubs eased off in second half and group games plus impact that subs had contributed to that.

no score in last 10 mins was strange and overall hard to say what impact rules will have.

For Offaly if they can regroup, which they should as they put in a hard shift in the second half, they will have a good chance to progress with games away to Louth and Laois (not sure where) to come. Louth beat Laois by 8 and will be a handful in Louth no question.

This is the third year in a row the minors have had the same management and unsurprisingly this is the third year in a row where they’ve been well stuffed.

The definition of insanity…

I said this months ago the best players were not picked for this panel clearly the manager is out of his depth as the results have proven as such the last few yrs . No blame lys with the players they gave it their all .bleak times for underage football

Tullamore have won the last 3 u 15 football championships and feiles yet only had one starter tonight . Kk have been the dominant force in the same period in hurling and backbone our hurling teams and rightly so . Yeh the dominant force in football in those yrs only has one with young rouse been introduced who is only back from an injury been another. I know the talent that’s out there and this mgt team got it badly wrong.
But suppose they have a chance to still qualify if the best laois

As usual it's all the manager's fault when results don't go our way. Don't think there was a queue of top class replacements waiting to take over this team if the manager didn't put his name forward again.

Fair point, anything can happen with 16/17 year old bit the hole in midfield was worrying. I do believe that they have selected the best footballers in the county and any greviences are petty.

Its a strong panel, I would think there will be 3 or 4 changes from the last day, completely opened up in the back when we were ran at and supply into full forwards was poor.Roger has put in alot of work over the last few year, it would be nice to see them get a run going, He needs to gamble though and shuffle it up abit, laois are definitely there for the taken.

Brilliant gutsy and well deserved win for rhr minors this evening. Against a strong physical Laois side, they fought for every ball from the first to final minute.

Well done to Roger and team.

Oh Jesus where could you start. From cruising at half time with the wind to come in the second half to being so close to losing it at end of normal time. And then stepping it up again in ET.

Overall the better team but they’ll need a big improvement next week v Meath. They undoubtedly have some excellent players with key forwards in McNamee, Dunne, Woods, Daly. Thought Charlie Duffy was excellent when he came on and equally Dylan Dunne was a huge loss when he went off in normal time. Duffy and kelly were strong in defence too.

whilst they were the better team, their intensity was way below what it was for the Laois game. We struggled for long periods to win a ball or break around the middle and we allowed Wicklow to gain the upper hand and run at us. Our shot selection was poor at times especially in the second half of normal time but equally WK kept us in it with their poor shooting too at times.

Anyways it’s Meath next Thursday night and I think it’s away. Big improvement needed but well done regardless to team and management tonight.

Would agree with most of your post, thought Kelly gave away alot of ball though, full back line is poor at the moment, caught to easy with high balls at times , Rouse and maher are working hard in midfield. Charlie Duffy was good, has been better coming off the bench lately. Dylan D has been our stand out player for last few games, different team when he came off. hope Rouse and Dunne will be OK for meath game. This could be just the wake up call the boys need. I think meath game is on neutral venue. Boys looked fit in extra time, so fitness is paying off, few small tweeks I think we will be just fine for meath, the extra game could stand to us.
