Good to see David Dempsey return to the starting team. Diarmuid Egan returns and Rory Egan drops to the bench.

However I do think that’s our strongest bench we’ve had all year. Ru, Aaron Leavy, Rory Egan, Cillian Bourke can all add a lot when brought on.

Hoping for a professional performance today to set down the marker for the next (hopefully) 2 months or so.

A bright start to the Tailteann with an 8 point win over Wicklow.
Any reports on it?

Solid but not spectacular performance. A very poor opening 15 minutes but we did eventually settle down and get a foothold. Probably gave too much respect to Wicklow at times but by the 50th minute, we were in control.

Ruairí McNamee was excellent off the bench. David Dempsey and Lee Pearson very solid at the back.

Jack Bryant ran the show and scored 1-5. His movement, pace, and genuine confidence on the ball was excellent. He’s come on leaps and bounds this year.

Roll on Waterford.

Was down in Newcastle west today
So missed both games
Osin said Offaly might win the competition
As long as they don't do silly things
Be in Waterford next Saturday
Hopefully a good few might turn up

Up Offaly

Offaly much better in second half, Wicklow scored0-3. Offaly had a penalty saved, but won 2-13 to 0-11.

That’s a fair synopsis of it. I’d add in Shane Tierney as well - he showed for and won a lot of ball.

Good to win on a day that Cormac, Keith, Dylan were all very quiet.

Very impressed with Ruari when he came in. Strong case for Kyle to go to centre field for Jack McEvoy and ruari to start at 10.

Was a little worried after 15-20 minutes about the nature of our performance to that point. Wicklow had ample possession in and around our 45 but I honestly think they wouldn't have scored a goal if they were there for another 70 minutes.

Diarmuid Egan was impressive, scoring a goal and setting up another couple of points in the first half. Bryant had an excellent game, got on a lot of ball, showed bravery to score the 2nd goal and picked off his scores when they opened up for him. Lee Pearson was quiet enough in the first period, but excellent in the 2nd half. Flynn, as usual, got on a mountain of ball and set the pace well.

Keith O'Neill took a couple of knocks and made way relatively early. Good to see that we weren't undone by him having a quiet day - likewise Cormac Egan didn't quite get the same amount of joy attacking compared to previous outings.

Good to see Cillian Bourke feature again and I feel that he may well start at MF before the season is out (although I'd imagine that the Leaving Cert will take precedence for a couple of weeks).

Small crowd but honestly bigger than I expected. A smattering across the stand and a few on the terrace. Thought the ref acted the maggot for a 20 minute window there where he was overly harsh on Offaly.

A great win and ultimately that's all that matters
Tailteann cup group qualification assured more or less,
Let push to make the final this year
Be another good step on an already brilliant year

Sunday Game showed 6 minutes of Louth V Meath, usual flip screen from play to play, you would need AI to read the team line outs the fly up the screen so fast, they must have spent 20/25 minutes talking about the game (no disrespect to Louth or Meath - great to see a new final and champions)then we ere treated to All Ireland U 20 semi final, RTE cover that even though they dont cover minor or U20 games live (I suppose former pundit from Kerry managing Kerry made a call for coverage)..we seen one game out of each other Tailteann cup group and read out the results of the others, I stand corrected but no footage of any game in our group, I assume our result was read out that I missed it..I know every game cant be covered but with our connections in RTE maybe we should do a Tomas O Se in it...we don't get a fair crack of the whip at all..

The Offaly match was on the Saturday Game. Along with the multitude of other games that were also on Saturday but who’s absence on the Sunday game you didn’t mention above.

Feel free to apologise and admit your mistake.

Exact same squad named for today. Good to see Keith remain in the starting 15 after he was quite last week.

Hoping for a comfortable win to guarantee us knock out football. Hopefully a first place finish so we don’t have to worry about a preliminary quarter final.
