GUBU springs to mind. Was there ever an All Ireland before where the clubs of one county got tickets and clubs in the other didn't? The answer is no.

The county board need to clarify how this occurred, it's not good enough. They want club members to stump up and buy the county lotto tickets yet no sign of tickets being made available to clubs and their members. All the talk of how important the supporters are seems very hollow this evening

Just a guess but Tipp were probably well aware that if all tickets went on general sale Offaly fans would snap up 95% of them so I assume they requested an allocation to ensure at least 5k Tipp fans.

But that doesn’t add up either. It was open to Tipp to go on TM same as everyone. And let’s say they did and got the same amount from TM as us - then they’d have 5k extra than us.

I’m a club executive in my club and it’s been confirmed by county board that Offaly clubs won’t be getting any allocation.

It’s putting a very sour taste with a lot of genuine fans.

Still argue that croke park should have stepped in and said that while we appreciate we granted game to Nowlan park a number of months ago, in the interest of safety and general fairness to genuine GAA fans, we have to move game to a bigger stadium. And strike a deal to host an alternative game in Nowlan park - would Dublin hurlers agree to Leinster final there. 26000 capacity would cover it. Toss up with Laois and Offaly for a home/away Joe McDonagh final.

Except it does add up.

Offaly made a mistake in not requesting an allocation and allowing their tickets be thrown in with the general sale.

That's actually a great point , Tipperary would have had plenty of experience in recent years of playing that game when needed

I don’t buy this nonsense about the ticket demand being unprecedented. The dog on the street would have know that this year in particular, the demand for tickets from Offaly alone could have reached in excess of 25,000 without any other fans or neutrals wishing to attend.

Today has left a sour taste in the mouth of Offaly fans. Then again All Ireland Senior finals leave a sour taste in my mouth every year, when fans or, in their own minds, celebrities get tickets to the biggest games of the season despite having never attended a game previously.

The GAA has consistently mistreated it’s fans, especially hurling fans of late. They care more about immediate profiteering than the long term development of the game. In my opinion hurling is the greatest game in the world, but it’s being disregarded and undervalued by the organisation designated to promote it.

A people’s led GAA would immediately abandon Ticketmaster as a ticketing platform, with the GAA establishing its own platform. Fans would then receive points for every ticket they book throughout the year, allowing fans to build up points which gives them preference for tickets for finals. As things stand loyal fans are being disregarded and it’s simply inequitable.
