yes i agree with you there neither should Birr as the case been ST.Brendans Birrs big enough to have their own under 21 team
as crinkle and carrig could go together as i said here already there might be 1 or 2 if your lucky that are on the ST.Brendans that are not from Birr
but Rynaghs shouldn't be allowed to take players from other clubs , maybe thats the problem why Rynaghs haven't been top dogs in offaly since 1993
just a thought....

It is, however very wrong that a club like St Rynaghs could afford to leave Five County Minors who started for Offaly last Saturday and recruited Three Strong Physical Players from Belmont. Surely St Rynaghs should not have been allowed recruit players from other clubs
It was absolutely ridiculous that rynaghs took in players from another club when they had more than enough of their own players. If a club has the numbers then they should not be taking part in amalgamations. For those without the players, then they should join with others in similar circumstances. Being located beside each other is not a deal breaker as can be seen by the amalgamation of Coolderry and Lusgmagh for Minor and Under 16

Apparently Ballinamere/Clara/Brosna Gaels won it. Something like 2-16 to 1-9 or thereabouts. Well done to them.

old yellar wrote:Just curious.. You argued passionately about how going down to div 2 would hamper your hurlers progress with me, surely lads hurling at b level in the club scene would be equivalent? I think you ve to look at the quality lads are exposed to especially in the club scene at underage. I think this leads to lads being found out more then when the go into the county panel. Lads tend to have dominated and have been used to doing it all for the team, one sided etc.. I think it's great to have all clubs hurling on their own, more numbers the better and all that, but as another poster said, 11 of the 15 mightn't be bothered with playing much or training, so this can turn the better lad off. Maybe b with their own clubs, but allow the better lads get better hurling too.
My crucial difference here is that if you have Offaly in division one vs Offaly in division two, you have the same thirty odd panellists playing in Offaly jerseys, just against poorer opposition. Of course that is a problem.

If you are talking about a club where they would have eighteen panellists of their own, but if they amalgamate then six or seven get a start at A level, then there is the issue that the weaker dozen don't hurl AT ALL. That's not the same as hurling at a weaker level, it's actually much worse. In many cases, this is where lads stop playing, because they have no team to play for.

Perhaps the middle ground is to create a B championship, and to ensure that amalgamated clubs field A and B sides where possible. That way the weaker lads still get a championship to stay involved.

Ya paddy kirwan is over drumcullen aswell. The panel is picked as far as I know, but I havent a clue whos on it.. I think there starting training once the panel is picked so they should be training now? They will possibly be playing dublin in a leinster semi final, so it will be a tough ask.
