redser have to pull you up on a few things there
1 deehan did not look dangerous when he bothered making a run and ended up getti ng the ball he was pathetic and has not perfromed for offaly or clara for the last two seasons
2 how can you say see keane and mcconway are too cocky if anything mconway suffers from a lack of confidence worrying too much about making mistakes instead of just going doing what we all know he can do. keane did ok on mangan ( mangan was taken off) plus Playing him in the corner is such a waste have him out on the half back line or even as runner with niall smith at midfield has plenty of football in him anD he aint cocky OR ARROGANT fact.
3. g rafferty does give it all but got a roasting on saturday
4. as for paschal that man should never wear an offaly jersay again too interested in mouthing to the ref and squaring up to oppenents waste of space
I AGREE WITH ABOUT THE TACTICS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE WHY SHOULD AN OFFALY TEAM GO OUT AND CONTAIN WESTMEATH WHO THE FUCK ARE WESTEMEATH. GO OUT AND PLAY FOOTBALL AND GO AND GIVE IT LASH INSTEAD OF THOSE BULLSHIT TACTICS ON SATURDAY
RANT OVER
Full Time Score 2-11 to 1-8

Redster wrote that Ger Rafferty very dedicated and gave his all and is tenacious. Well on Sathurday night he was none of these, he was out on his feet after 15 minutes and should have been substituted. He was roasted by the eventual man of the match Dessie (mouth almighty, whinger) Dolan.
Be careful out their

Re: Full Time Score 2-11 to 1-8
Lads Raff is a corner back and he did a grand job on Dessie for the first fifteen minutes, indeed forcing Westmeath to pull Dessie further out the field. After that he struggled on him in open space, which was hardly a surprise since Dolan is an elite forward on top of his game and Raff is a hard hitting inside line defender who was not suited to the job - another instance of a switch that could have been made but wasn't by our sleepy management. They should have moved Raff onto Mangan, let Keane do the free man job and let Slattery take Dolan.
I wouldn't blame Rafferty for last Saturday at all.

Yea perhaps not very assured at all at the time though thought he did okay. He was aiming at Smith for most of his kickouts, saved well from Glennon at the end and dealt with any loose kicks. I guess I was really searching for positivesDD wrote:Jasus Silken I have to pull you up on this one and I can't understand how no-one has mentioned it yet either but Kelly was a disaster for the 1st goal and didn't cover himself in glory for the 2nd either.Silken Thomas wrote:
Positive
Niall Smith announced himself on the Inter County scene with a great fielding display.
Even considering they were training so long there was passion in the performance.
Padraig Kelly was very assured and his kickouts were impressive.
[.
For the first he came charging out behind the corner back taking himself out of the game and giving Wilson an empty goal to slap the ball into. Had he stayed on the line Wilson would have had to take the ball and would likely have been kept out as his marker would have been able to get close to him.
For the 2nd he came charging out again instead of letting one of the backs attempt a tackle or block, he was never going to get there in time and Dolan picked his spot with ease.
For the second goal I would put it down to disorganisation after the sending off and good link play between Glennon and Dolan.
I would like to see the first goal again myself. I remember thinking the half back line had pushed up and left Kelly and one other defender badly exposed.
If your point is Kelly was not a positive from the match I would probably agree but I think you are being a bit harsh blaming him for bad mistakes further out the field which you layed at the feet of McManus earlier!
The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast.

Re: Full Time Score 2-11 to 1-8
One thing a goalie should never do is make up the foward's mind for him by selling himself, there's no doubt about it McManus missed a simple catch in the lead up to the goal and that put the defence under pressure but had Kelly held his line, Wilson would have had to catch the ball and he would have had a lot more work to do to the get a goal as Smith was coming back to get in a challenge.Silken Thomas wrote: Yea perhaps not very assured at all at the time though thought he did okay. Probably a bit harsh on him for the 2nd as they had totally overran us at that stage but he still came steaming out past one of his backs when he should be setting himself to make a save.
