Re: Club football 2025
Great game of football today. Best I’ve saw in a long time. Thought Niall furlong was the stand out player for Tullamore.
Will Ferbane rue not starting oisin and Kyle?????
Thought Ferbane should have taken a point in injury time rather than trying to force a goal, there was still a couple of minutes for an equaliser.
Genuinely disappointed for Ferbane as they were so close today. Their forwards were sharper especially with the wind in the first half but the way they fought back in the last quarter is a credit to them.
Best of luck to Tullamore in Leinster. A trip to Cusack park on the 16th November against the Downs awaits.

Re: Club football 2025
A distinct feeling of deja vu as I left OCP.
Ferbane coming close but no cigar as Tullamore find a way to win.
It has been the very same for three years on the spin now and likely to be the same again next year.
Ferbane sat in with a blanket defence in the first half despite having the wind but went all out attack early in the second half against the wind… if somebody could explain the rationale for that I’d love to hear it.
Tullamore destroyed Ferbane on the counter-attack in that early part of the second half as Ferbane’s error count crept up.
Still, they dragged themselves back into it and when leading by a goal with 3 minutes left - really should’ve hung on but the inexperience showed with some costly errors and Tullamore who are well versed in digging out late wins did so again.
I’m fairly certain that was Ger Rafferty’s last game in charge of Ferbane who will have some massive regrets over the last two finals in particular. A couple of tactical tweaks and they could’ve won both.
As for Tullamore, I’m not entirely sure what Rochford has added to the setup. They don’t seem any further down the line than they were 12 months ago. Maybe we’ll see it in Leinster but colour me skeptical.

well cuala beat them by a lucky goal last year in parnell park and went on to win the all ireland. so with a bit of luck they could have a good run at it.

Ah Jaysus Jimbob, Dooley can hardly claim a legitimate medal for this can he?
He didn't play a single minute all year for the seniors and I don't believe he was even named on a team sheet for them until the final today.
Rocking up today is hardly enough to earn a medal or am I being too harsh here?

Re: Club football 2025
Tullamore had 22 players named as subs. Shane Dooley was no 23. Never saw action. Shane was on the winning panel. He won an IFC medal on the field a few weeks back, along with Tom Furlong and Ciaran Burns that I recall.bracknaghboy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 7:50 pmAh Jaysus Jimbob, Dooley can hardly claim a legitimate medal for this can he?

Next step for Tullamore in Leinster, a trip to Mullingar where The Downs are the opposition.

Re: Club football 2025
They ground out a win today. 4 points was the biggest victory margin of the 3 Co. Finals v Ferbane. 2 point scores were the difference today.Anonymous1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 7:04 pm A distinct feeling of deja vu as I left OCP.

Leinster will be another story for Tullamore. I believe today was Ger Rafferty’s last game as Ferbane manager.
Re: Club football 2025
Well done to Tullamore. I thought Ferbane were game but a bit off the pace until the last 10 mins. Tullamore’s shooting kept Ferbane in. Have to hand it to Tullamore the way they won it.
Anyone who know if the Leinster q final is in OCP or Cusack Mart?

Re: Club football 2025
That was an outstanding final today and credit is due to both teams.
Ferbane died with their boots on. That group of players, for what they have done and been through for both Ferbane and Belmont deserve unending respect. They are a serious group of men and they have to believe their time will come. Just keep knocking on the door.
Tangentially, it is fantastic to see Cian Johnson in such good form and in such impressive physical condition. It's clear he's put a huge effort in this year and well done to him. Time to kick on with Offaly now, the ultimate stage.
Tullamore's golden run continues with 4 titles in 5 years annexed. It's a remarkable achievement. Thoughts turn to Leinster.

Re: Club football 2025
By all accounts Tullamore seniors and inters trained together all year. He was one of main forwards for the intermediates that included plenty of lads that also played senior. He was named at no 23 - ie 8th sub out of 22 subs. If you understand this game at all, you will know that it is a squad that wins a championship, not a 15 on the day - as the squad drives the standards for the guys that are starting. The Intermediates included senior sub Ciaran Burns too who was on a county senior panel 2 or 3 years ago among others.bracknaghboy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 7:50 pmAh Jaysus Jimbob, Dooley can hardly claim a legitimate medal for this can he?

Aside from all that, he is in better shape this year than he has been in recent years from what I am told and played major role in Intermediate success. The man is nearly 40 yrs of age, has played for Offaly for guts of 20 years and his club at senior level for even longer than that. If just briefly acknowledging that achievement (a 7th senior medal) at the tail end of his career in a blurb on a county final is too much for you, then I should apologise for same. Or maybe you are just being needlessly harsh for little or no good reason.

Keep your hair on, and cool down. Bracknagh Boy asked a serious question, and you failed to respond. A squad of 37 players really means that it for 15 v 15 games. By your admission a player approaching 40, would hardly be in the first blush of youth, is not likely to make the first team. I am familiar with the GAA, probably more than you, who hates anyone to disagree with you.. A forum like this for an exchange of differing views, we do not always agree, but we do not use insulting language.jimbob17 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 11:35 pmBy all accounts Tullamore seniors and inters trained together all year. Re: Club football 2025
Maybe you could relax here also SD...... BB picked a simple nod to an Offaly veteran getting brief mention. I'm not sure how familiar you are with GAA but I can assure you I am just as familiar. Happy to debate with anyone here and have done for a long time and what I am doing here if you hadnt noticed...... I think his point is needless nitpick to be fair. Tullamore won Inter comfortably. They won last 5 or 6 U20 championships. They have 37 senior footballers and probably more with that if adding Luke Egan and a couple who played Junior A this year. They will challenge for that Senior B next year too and are at similar level to Kilcormac in hurling who have lots of lads good enough to play senior outside a starting 15 - who are on their second Senior B team. They arent just named there just for 15v15. They are a unique group and all have underage championships won too. 11 that played today have played senior for the county at some stage while others were on Offaly senior panel at some stage and I'd say all the subs have played for Offaly at minor or U20 / U21 level. Not sure why a fella needs to take issue with a simple nod to Shane Dooley after all his service to club and county......... or why you are so interested in me not standing up for my point of view...... you are the one espousing value of debate while also trying to shut me up - a bit of a contradiction.SearingDrive wrote: ↑Mon Oct 27, 2025 12:35 amKeep your hair on, and cool down. Re: Club football 2025
Topics discussion over the top on Dooley. Of you are on panel you deserve medal end of.
Belmont deserve senior football final and not far off hurling final, potentially better team if they didn’t have dual players today?
Tullamore also play both unlike most teams. Theee in a row football and unlucky with dual players to not knock outs.
Other clubs ok Offaly take notesz.

Re: Club football 2025
What a win. Huge respect for Ferbane and raff and how they keep coming back they are just unfortunate to come against a Tullamore team that has few freaks that don’t know how to lose .
Thought Daire Mcdaid did a job on Cathal flynn but Cathal was still really good too.
Thought Daragh flynn was excellent in the first 20 but then Ben Heff got the better after that.
Loads of great match ups
All over the pitch
Leavy was by a distance the best midfielder and put his young apprentice Cillian how it works in a county final.
But my good how good was Harry Plunkett in the last 8 mins
Up until then he was only ok but he was sensational in the last few mins
Ferbane won’t go away
They have talent and never give in massive respect from a blue to them .

Re: Club football 2025
Great game yesterday shame they had to be a loser .
Knack of winning is a big part of the game
Tulllamore Have it mastered.
Hard to tell how far they will go in Leinster
But hopefully injury free as we need
Everyone fit for the league
As it's going be Offalys most important
In 20 years .
Stay dry
