A great first semi final, one has to feel for Birr, Slevins save from Cahill crucial, but really amount of wides in first half, some were hasty shots where player had time..other side is fair dues to KK..that was a serious serious test, and they got over the line..

Surely a free at the end watched the clip a few times...bitter way to lose but ran kk close and probably unlucky in ways no to win.

Birr played their way into trouble right at the end. Murphy should have gave it back to the keeper. There was no free, if anything Ryan over carried it

I thought it was a free at the end but the ref was very consistent and let those type of fouls go for the whole match. Birr can have no complaints, have one or two passengers and kk exploited that. Think kk only made two subs? Strange considering the strength of the bench.

Screeney and Mitchell got KK out of jail
Super effort from Birr who probably werent winning by enough at half time
I thought the ref had a decent game and played his part in a very enjoyable semi final

Birr led at ht. They will probably regret not being further ahead ,wind assisted.
KK did not blow them away in the second period, Birr must be really down after going so close to dethroning the champions.
Maybe KK are not the team that they were.. Shinrone or Belmont will fancy their chances of lifting the Robbins Trophy.

A really enjoyable game in Tullamore. Birr threw everything they had at K/K and came up narrowly short. Adam Screeney and Charlie Mitchell really wwre the difference makers. Adam got 2 amazing points in his haul of 0-04 from play.
But K/K have issues in their backline and particularly at centre back. Cillian Kiely for some reason hurled as an auxiliary full back in the 2nd half and gave Luke Nolan the freedom of OCP. He never picked him up at all. And his distribution on the ball was inconsistent to say the least. For me K/K are a a much better team with Brecon at centre back. A half back line of Ter Guinan, Brecon and Enda Grogan has to be under consideration for the county final.

3 big games on today, all hard to call. I’m going for Belmont by 2. Carrig & Riverstown by 5. Drumcullen by 7

I don’t think I could imagine a worse set of results happening

I think birr will win comfortably
C&R and lusmagh will be tight I think lusmagh might just get over the line ,
Belmont v shinrone , another very tight call Belmont struggled to pull away in the group game while at the same time shinrone looked to be just doing enough to keep within sight in that game.

It won’t be any comfort to them today, but that was an unbelievable performance by Birr yesterday. For a team with no Offaly starters, it was a display founded on hard work and an unwillingness to yield. They should be extremely proud of their efforts. They have re-energised not only their own club, I would imagine, but also the championship as a whole. KK can be beaten.
As for KK, they need to realise that, for all their talent, complacency can catch even the best of teams.

I heartily agree on your sentiments regarding Birr.
K/K would do well to realise that when you have two of the best (if not the best) scoring forwards in Offaly (Screeney and Mitchell) there’s no shame in actually letting the ball into them.
For the want of a better expression, they pr1cked around with the ball too much yesterday in their backline and midfield.
