A goal straight out of the Faithful Fields for DCU inbthis evening's Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final. Colin Spain won the ball, placed Sam Bourke who kept the move going, fed Dónal Shirley who fired in a great goal. It brought DCU level with UCC, and DCU went on to win it by five points.

Cork were in Faithful Fields last night to face our u20s.
Very tough game with Cork players (and management) very eager to bully our lads.
Shane Guinan had to stop the game a couple of times to reprimand Donal Og.
Any time there was any sort of argument the call from the Cork sideline was to get in and hit them.

Most of the lads involved with the seniors hurled for half an hour.
Think we led 14 to 1-10 before the game was prematurely called to a halt following a row.

They're already showing their hand that if they happen to meet Offaly in 2025, it will be Ben O'Connor's gameplan of 2023 that they're working off.

Will they be as tough on Limerick, Tipp and Clare, or Waterford,in the Munster Hurling Championship?

Any indication on newcomers, who played well, scored etc.?

You'd hope that some of the fringe players will get game time in challenge matches and in championship this year, u20 level is so important for developing players for senior level. I'll be slated for saying it but it's job done with the lads starting and close to starting senior. Hugely important more lads are being brought through and developed to that level. Be a shame to chase glory at the expense of developing more players and ensuring lads are equipped for step up to senior. Cork can try bully our lads all they want but i think we're much better able for it now and they won't get away with as much in championship under more scrutiny from officials than in Faithful Fields under lights on a Wednesday night. Shame to see a match cut short for a row.

No such thing as club loyalty anymore, I’d say it’s fair to transfer if your living a long distance away from your home club, but to transfer 10 minutes out the road seems like pure madness. It’s nearly gone like transfer markets in the premier league at this rate….

If this happens, I can understand why you might feel disappointed as a Brosna Gaels club member, but there are no more transfers now than there ever were. There were always stalwarts who stayed with unfashionable junior or intermediate clubs for their whole career, and there were always those who moved with a view to giving themselves the best shot possible of playing with their county, and playing at a high standard. For every Ger Oakley, there was a John Ryan. For every John Kenny, there was a Vinny Claffey or a David Connolly.

It's not like Belmont to Banagher or Daingean to Tullamore, is a long journey either.

I stand to be corrected but didn't John Kenny play Feile with Tullamore before the family moved to Daingean from Tullamore in the late 80s?

I'm sure they'll try and give everyone a tough time of it.
However, tough hurling and cynical hurling are two different approaches.

Whatever they must not have done what needed to be done last year so. At u20 level last year the skill and sheer will to win was what won it.
