A wonderful player and leader.
Put Padraig Horan in any Offaly team, in any code and the team gets 10% better.
Pull all the strands together that made Offaly's hurling breakthrough. It couldn't have happen without the absolute iron will of some of the leaders involved, especially Padraig.
Here is the recent Laochra Gael documentary. Padraig was sadly showing the effects of Parkinson's, but his stern determination and sense of humour was in no way diminished.
11 mins in, Joachim references the Tulla massacre. Padraig wiping out the zombie invasion attacking the team and the subsequent home game ban was probably the galvanising event that made Offaly All Ireland champions in 1981.
