see on the laois website they don't rate us and reckon they have way better underage talent than us could have today will see, even one muppett says beat them for a 3rd year and keep them down as in offaly for as long as we can god help us if they ever won anything in hurling

townman you are mistaken if you think true Laois hurling supporters want to see the demise of Offaly hurling. We have suffered some gut wrenching defeats to Offaly down the years so it's only natural we will enjoy a few wins over ye! Also I don't think it's a matter of opinion that we have better under age talent coming through, three wins on the trot at minor level kinda confirms that. This is a very young Laois team so I wasn't trying to play down our chances before the match, I genuinely thought we'd do very well to get the win today and it turns out it went right to the wire. Ye have Wexford now so the year is not over yet, for us it's another opportunity to get back to Croke Park...the dream for all young hurlers.

Fuck you townma!!n. It was buckface who made the statement above about this bring hurling back to birr shite. Youself and buckface are obviously from birr!

What if I was from pullagh? would that be a problem? there was two pullagh lads on the minor hurling today!!

Was a good performance today by the minors. The wind was a major factor. We just didn't have a strong enough lead at half time to get us over the line.

What happens next for us?

Full time. Laois 0-26 Offaly 3-14. Offaly pipped at the end. Offaly have a second chance of progressing to semi final when they take on Wexford or Meath in two weeks.

Laois Played as a team Offaly played as individual. Some great hurlers on both side. Offaly missed a goal chance to put them out of sight at the end of 1st half.
Offaly just couldn't hold on and in fairness Laois as a team were miles ahead of them.

It was a good game between two well prepared teams. I thought it was a very decent performance by Offaly with Laois just being that bit stronger in more positions.

Well done to all involved.

(KC - you are wrong again about something you think is 'obvious')

Laois came through , just though.
Oisin Kelly completely panicked when he found himself inside the Laois backline to butcher a goal chance i would have finished. That would have left us 9 or 10pts up and Laois rocking. instead they swept up and pucked a point to leave 5 or so in it. This pattern kept up during the second half, with a bit more team play, we could have tagged on more scores, especially at a time when Laois had lost their composure and were hitting aimless ball to their forwards and aimless wides as well.
Some very good performances and the lads will learn from this game. Laois had some very good players and got some terrific scores into the breeze, but never really threatened a goal, whereas we could have had 5!
Good crowd over from Laois, typical poor Offaly following. Great entertainment, well done to our lads, but the point is the little bit of extra awareness under the breaks, and usiing the free man cost Offaly in this game.
Cillian Kiely, great talent and size but workrate??, tis up to him if he wants to make it.

Pity Offaly couldn't hold out for a badly needed win.
It was apparent from early on that it was going to be a race against the clock as to whether Offaly could hold out.
Hopefully there is a chance to improve and build for the next match.

Correct, but there are still a few folk in Offaly with their heads in the sand about our standing.

Is it Meath or Wexford next for us?

Laois are in the semi's and so are Dublin who hammered KK. KK play Carlow in the back door.

Welcome back lad.

Offaly play Wexford, who beat Meath last Saturday in what was a knockout game.

Wexford 0-18 Offaly 1-9
Following Twitter for updates, looked by half time with the late goal and the breeze to come that the 2nd half was there for the winning, but not to be. Commiserations to team and management.

Cillian Kiely will never learn another red card for this young man :( . no big shock here as we were very poor again laois only goals kept us in it, we have to go back to under 9's and under 12 to start
at that level, the offaly minors the games i seen were poor at striking and catching the ball,

Don't be to hard on Cillian Kiely. It was two Yellow and he trying to lead the team, he puts his body on the line more than any other player at this level.
The forwards look to be unable to play as unit. lots of work to be done at this and ever level in Offaly.
