He was in Birr on Saturday for the double header seems strange that he would be gone

I would have been expecting Fennelly to stay on. There is a semblance of progress, with some setbacks of course, but no one could claim that Offaly are underachieving to any great degree.
Another factor is that I don't see who the obvious alternatives are and what significant difference they would make?
Splashing out on big names like Davy Fitz, Daly etc doesn't make sense when there isn't yet a rich pool of talent to work with.
We've also gone the route of journeymen coaches from the circuit like Eamonn Kelly and Kevin Ryan recently. Fellas who who are solid at a certain level but unlikely to move the needle either.

Confirmed he is gone.
Kind of strange they left it this late to make decision. Where to next not sure who it will be

I wonder if he has been approached by Kilkenny to be part of the team to replace Cody - strange that he left it this late and the fact he was at the matches on Saturday

More rumours and speculation, but this Waterford Paper name Michael Fennelly (along with and many others) in relation to the Waterford manager role

By the looks of it, county board did not want fennelly back. Very strange if that's the case.

I wonder would the job appeal to Brian Cody?
Less pressure than the Kilkenny job and he wouldn’t have to face Kilkenny in either league or championship.
A 75 minute drive from Kilkenny city to Faithful Fields.
You’d imagine every hurler in the county would become available for selection if he was in charge.

Cody will never take a county team again.
