Crinkill conceded the Junior A relegation final last night. That’s the 2nd walkover they gave this year. They look to be in real trouble looking at results the last couple of years. Word on the street is they will really struggle to put out a team at all next year. If that happens, what would that mean for CRCC ??

Crinkill would do well to forget about the past and to do only what is truly best for the next generation and the GAA in their area.

Crinkill explored a full amalgamation with C&R but ultimately it was shot down by some members in C&R. Personally I think that was a bad move for both clubs. Both C&R teams and Crinkill are in relegation this year.

That's for Crinkill GAA to decide. But I would respectfully suggest that being relegated to the fifth tier in Offaly club hurling due to an inablity to fulfil fixtures isn't it.

Kinnitty 0-18 Lusmagh 0-12. A good win for Kinnitty but you’d feel for Lusmagh. Had some decent displays throughout the group but ultimately they go back to Senior B for 2027.

I can’t help but feel that the hurling will follow the football and go with a stronger and weaker group. After the group stages were drawn, this match was inevitable. Kinnitty have basically played 4 almost meaningless games before this, Lusmagh similar.

Very hard to see that happening. I can’t imaging birr will want to give up their name & history to form a new club. Been down this road a few times now on this forum so I’ll leave it there

Why would Birr ever agree to it? They don’t need Crinkill and their underage is coming good so they won’t struggle for numbers. It’s unfortunate but Crinkill are in a very difficult spot, everyone in their catchment area wants to play with the town team.

Birr could do with the extra pitches.
Birr wouldn't be too worried from a personnel point of view, they take any good lad Crinkill have anyway.

Crinkill are not able to field a team at adult level so club should be abolished and absorbed by Birr. Its too close to Birr town and too small of a place to be a club on its own in the modern day anyway. People talk about Birr underperforming relative to their size in recent years particularly at underage level they weren't even fielding teams in some cases but you must also take into account that anywhere outside the town is a different club. Crinkill would be beneficial to them. Win win scenario.

Crinkill is plenty big - there are about 16 clubs in Offaly with a smaller population.
