County finals used to be played in September and has everything to do with split season as clubs are being made wait until county teams are out of championship so start.
I’d put good money on it that more finals have been in October than September since the turn of the century.

Clubs being made wait til county teams out to start? Do you want them to play without county players?
A lot of finals played in September and early October, you're missing my point for the sake of arguing.. county finals should not be played in October that's my point, it's unfair on club players who put so much into it! Today is a farce. No one wants them to play with without their county players, play both at the one time over a longer period instead of squeezing one into short time frame then squeezing the other in after and the club (which contains 95%) of all players left waiting all year and then left playing in shit conditions!
Club players want more games, when do you want them to play their championship games?

Between May and September alongside the county games instead of squeezing them into a small period between August and October in shitty weather and start showing some respect. As I clearly pointed out about 50 times in my last few posts.. 32 teams down to Junior A football in offaly and about 30 players play with offaly, 10 of which never see game time, so basically the whole club championship and in the region of 700 players are left waiting until the end of July to start a championship and left playing in the shit of October for a county final because 20 of those players are playing with offaly, if you actually think about it, would you not agree that it's absolutely ludacris?

There is 0 club players that want to go into championship without their county men. What you are proposing is ludicrous.
We aren’t in the shit of October, pitches are very dry and we’ve been hit with a windstorm, which should have led to the postponement of today’s games. Wait til you hear when the provincial club championships are played.
Please point out to me which club championships should go ahead without county players, or which clubs are happy to go on without them.
Don’t forget the 30 each u20 panel. Between the 2 Senior and u20 panels that’s approx 120 players who you want club championships to proceed without.

Oh my God are you thick? I must have pointed out 10 times that im not asking teams to play without county players.. County players can play the club games aswell!! If they are spread out over that period there is no reason not to.. club championships should go ahead with all players.. I am talking about County championships the bread and butter of gaelic football and hurling! The all ireland club is different and is separate and thats one winning club out of each championship and is played int he shit out of necessity.. a huge amount of u20 players dont make their club team either.. We are in the shit of October, last weekend weather had a big bearing on all County finals aswell.. ask any player they will tell you they don't want to be playing County finals this time of year after working so hard all year. Most players will tell you should be played a lot earlier and teams are burnt out at the end of october not mind being in peak condition.. Kerry played their club championships alongside the county games for years, they same to be alright with it? But I suggest it here and you think it's Ludicrous?

Every county played their club championship alongside the county championship for years. Absolutely none do it now. Zero.

That won't change until the diktat comes from on high, because otherwise no county is going to hamstring their own county team and play championship games midseason while their rivals put 100% focus into the county team.

I think far from hamstringing (if that's a word) their own county, it would hugely benefit the county, huge number of players in general and developing players are left rotting on the bench of a county team during the summer with no real action or games and when needed then for Offaly are not match ready.. I don't think club championship would harm any of our starters and like I said it would benefit our fringe players massively. Lest we forget that offaly only bothered with one championship game this year, maybe 2 at a push.

If the match was yesterday, conditions were perfect.

Thought brian duignan was the only Ballinamere forward to turn up today, if he’d any sort of help they’d have won it. Though ballinamere competed very well up to midfield but they couldn’t get a grip in the forwards.

Looks like they are going ahead which is nothing short of disgraceful. The clubs left in the dirt as usual. The split season is a joke, leaving it open to stuff like this and county finals in October simply shouldn't happen. Players have trained hard for 10 odd months to have to come out and play in shitty conditions. Can all say that conditions are same for both teams but the players deserve better. All big club and county games should be played between May and September and no reason it can't be done. Beyond me why club championships were not started until end of July in offaly, could have been started 3 weeks sooner at least.
When do you think county finals were played before this?
Absolutely nothing to do with the split season
A football Co. Final was played in December one year, circa 2000.
Tullamore beat Shamrocks in a game Shamrocks looked like winning at ht.
That was the year Seamus Kelly, former UCD keeper, was introduced in the second half by Shamrocks. An odd decision, as Shamrocks lost a match they were capable of winning.

Ballinamere certainly put it up to KK today, they had a very good second half, but had no player like Adam Screeney, whose3 points got the twin Ks over the line.
How much of a loss was Cillian Kiely to Kilc/ Killoughey today?

Dan Bourke had an excellent game for Ballinamere.

Think that was played mid December. Championship final held up because of Kevin Martin being involved with the Offaly senior hurlers who played in the all Ireland. Ironically, it was a shinned kick from a supersub Mr Martin that won them the title that day.

Rhode and Edenderry played a one off game to decide on the Offaly representatives in Leinster.

I'd be a lot closer to Corrigan's team than yours FTT.

Id probably go with Conor Slevin in goals though - not by much. I'd get it very hard to see how Ciaran Burke does not make team of the year give how he played for Offaly and his club during the year. He nullified Mitchell completely in co final on top of that.

Ross Ravenhill also deserves to be on it either at 5/6 or 9, given he played in half back line and midfield for club. Ballinamere wouldnt have made final without him. I'd say same for Dan Bourke who has to be on team of the year in my opinion.

I'd have Brian Duignan out on half forward line too where he played a lot for his club and I would include Luke O'Connor in FF line - who had a great year for Rynaghs and almost dragged them to semi final on his own - and they nearly made final too so they deserve that nod - probably at expense of DJ McLoughlin.

Didnt see much of Coolderry but seen as both have him, I'd leave Connolly in there. Mitchell was outstanding up to the final but struggled there. You could probably say Screeney wasn't fully briliant despite playing well - up to final but he really lit up that final so he probably deserves to be in the team also.

13. Charlie Mitchell
14. Luke O'Connor
15. Adam Screeney

So 8 K/K
4 Ballinamere
2 St Rynaghs
1 Coolderry

Numbers wise I think that split might well reflect the hierarchy of the teams this year also.
