Ronan McGuire couldn’t make the team so not sure how he is a big loss. Ferbane will more than likely meet Tullamore in the county final again whether they can get over the line or not is another story. Belmont haven’t a hope of getting out of the group
Oisin Kelly couldn’t get the summer transfer for New York so he had to transfer altogether. He mightnt be eligible to hurl for Belmont on his return this year. When he told hurling management he was going to miss the first 3 games, they told him not to bother coming back this year, which seems mental. Paddy Clancy is home but needs a small operation on his knee. Leon Fox has transferred to Dreadnots in Louth.
It’s not mental.

They’ll likely lose their first three games and be knocked out before he comes back.

Relegation playoff probably won’t matter again if KK win the Senior B which seems likely.
No they won’t lose their first 3 games.
Loss to KK, beat Kinnitty and anything could happen against Rynaghs. With Shinrone last up, that could be a massive game.

Kinnitty beat them last year with both Fox and Kelly playing.

There’s no guarantee they can turn that around this year and even if they do, I can’t see them beating any of the other three.

Turn up for the books today in the Div 1 final.

Anybody at the game? Any thoughts?

Are Edenderry contenders for the champo or was this a severely understrength Tullamore?

Are Hogan and Brazil gone off the Tullamore panel?

Both teams fairly poor. Edenderry were trailing most of the second half, down by two points in injury time when kaelum bryan scored a goal. Neither team looked particularly good. Tullamore probably should've won but as per the match report Edenderry won in spite of themselves rather than any great statement victory. Could've gone either way. Game wasnt played at championship pace imo. Edenderry had strongest team out. Tullamore missing Cillian Bourke,(holiday) Daire McDaid, Harry Plunkett, (J1)Diarmuid Egan, (inj)Ciaran Burns,(holiday)Aaron Hensey, Declan Hogan, Michael Brazil. Some of those haven't played in the league at all as far as I'm aware and may not play championship. Luke Egan who started last years county final also left panel playing hurling instead.

Seems to be a fair bit of player turnover in both Tullamore and Ferbane. Could make for more of an open championship than first thought which can only be a good thing.

Tullamore will have the majority of those players back for the first rd vs Bracknagh except Luke Egan who has decided just to hurl and Diarmuid Egan who won’t be back till the second rd . Edenderry were at full tilt yesterday and barely got over the line and if Tullamore took their chances in the second half the goal in injury time wouldn’t have mattered
Edenderry do seem the team best equipped to challenge Ferbane and Tullamore but their group isn’t simple
Was a poor enough game and neither team made good use of the wind.

Stephen Rochford new Tullamore coach. Managed Mayo during their all ireland attempts and was coach/interim manager for Mayo as recently as a few weeks ago.

Why appoint a new coach right before the championship? Seems like current management team are panicking a bit. Strange for someone to come in this late and take the full reigns of coaching. 2 hours 22 minutes from Crossmolina to Tullamore how sustainable is that? 5 hour round trip to coach a club team he has no affiliation to just seems a bit wrong on top of all of the money they are going to pay him. They went we an internal tullamore management team then completely flicked the switch right before championship

Big appointment hopefully it works out. A young manager like Paul Mconway will learn loads from a coach like rochford.
Tullamore don’t start championship for another 6 weeks county players only back so seems about right the timing he has 6 weeks before the first rd . Defo no panicking in Tullamore they were always on the look out for a coach.

Happens a bit in big clubs, get a lad in to push things on 6-8 weeks before championship. Adds a new dimension, he's probably in the loop about players , style of play since start of year. These things are rarely an impulsive decision.

Tullamore GAA charge Offaly GAA rent for O’Connor Park.

Offaly GAA levy the clubs to heavily subsidise this rent.

Tullamore GAA hire Stephen Rochford as their coach.
