I'd say that Reynolds was a marginal call. He probably won't last the 70 either way. I reckon he'll be told to run his legs off on this basis.

He's good at holding possesion and taking a tackle which is important, the last thing we need is ball coming back from our forward lines into the half back line. I could see Ryan coming on later in the game to add a bit more pace when the game has opened up a little more.

BTW does anbody know where to buy an Offaly flag in Tullamore? So long since there was one up I can't remember where its gone.

Reynolds best position is corner forward - he does damage close to the goals (eg his point against kildare and the run for the penalty). He has an accurate kick but it is a short range one and he is good for grabbing a goal. He is not half as effective out the field.

Depends what exactly you're looking for. The shark flag was made by a woman who lives somewhere halfway between Clara and Tullamore, whose name escapes me. Found her in the yellow pages though. (Bord na Mona man will probably be able to tell you the area) €30 for the 6 foot by 3 foot flag, but obviously the sharkwork had to be added to that. But it's a quality flag, standing up to wear and tear very well.

I suppose I'm just waiting or all the hype to start. I thought flags might be on general sale in shops and that around the town at this stage. There was plenty of Leix flags around the place when I drove through it last week.

I'd say there'll be opportunities to get one Sat evening in Tullamore with the hurling on.

The second option is the correct Offaly tricolour as far as i am aware.

The horizontal bars are more correct, but the Tricolour with gold instead of Orange is acceptable too. The Green White and Orange tricolour should not be used.

I also like reynolds! I think he tries his best at half forward even when its not particularly suited to him. If we are not getting any joy up front, I would like to see him transferred into the full forward line on Sunday.

Couldn't argue with that - the guy is very wholehearted, and nobody would doubt his effort - however the key is in the conclusion there - it's not suited to him.

So why is he picked there???????

I just don't get it. He can't kick a point from range, he's not particularly good at eating up breaks, he struggles to ride tackles and he's not a great tackler himself - he gets into good positions and does his tracking, but all too often people can bully past him. I agree he can be quick enough, but if that's what we want, we have quicker - Ryan or Phelan.

I think that he's an inside forward, and we need to either pick him in there or don't pick him. To me this is like 2004, where in a drive to accommodate all our good inside forwards, Niall Mac was played on the half forward line - and he then spent the whole game in Wexford tracking Leigh O'Brien, and miles from where he could do damage.

I'd much prefer to see someone like Paschal playing here, with either a third inside forward (Reynolds) or a third midfielder (Keane??) Failing that, Leonard Mooney, Rory Guinan or either Phelan or Ryan for pace would be my call for this spot.

the only thing against phelan the last day was that he was too small. 90% of kildares kickouts went to him and his marker cought almost all of them. it meant their wing back was running at us every time with eigh men to aim for ahead of him. it put an awful strain on the backs. would the same not happen ryan. i like these two as footballers, but at intercounty level, both might also be more suited to the inside forward line. how about a 5 man inside forward line??

I would imagine that if you wanted to play either Trevor or Sean, they would have to swap with someone like Niall for kickouts, just to be on the safe side.

A five man inside forward line, all making darting runs. Sounds like a fun brand of chaos!

I'd say you'll find that the forwards won't start in the positions that went to press i.e going on the positions played in training......

I agree with u Tom the main focus will be getting the ball into our full forward line where tha damage can be done.
Perhaps Keelehan will play out more between the midfield and the half forward line, this would allow Reynolds to play the space bewteen the full and half forward lines, to get out in front and win ball and supply it in or keep going if theres space.

Phelan did struggle under the kickout the last day alright, there's no reason not to make the changes early on the day this time if it doesn't work out.[/quote]
