I strongly suspect that both ourselves and Limerick will get exactly the same result out of Ennis - a bad one. Assuming we get through the banana skin this weekend okay, I'm thinking ourselves and Limerick in Tullamore will be a straight showdown for a quarter final slot - where we'll only have to play Kilkenny anyway.

I wouldn't be as negative as Plain of the Herbs. Certainly our striking was poor on Sunday, but not noticably worse than Wexfords. Last weeked suggested that our backs are getting to the required level, but our forwards are not, and this is ironic because we've been putting up decent scores the past few years, and conceding a lorry load at the other end.

There is still progress being made I feel, and I certainly would not expect Offaly's limit to being shocking Wexford every 4 years or so.

It's important that the Qualifiers are approached correctly, and that we beat Dublin. If we do so, then I think we can take one of Limerick at home or Clare away, probably the former.

Our lads, for whatever reason, failed to perform on the day, and our management made some bizarre decisions/non-decisions. I still reckon that if we were to play Wexford next week, I'd fancy us to beat them.

I think if we are going to play Kilkenny this year, then via the groups might be the better way to fo it.
We still have a lot of work to do and maybe the extra games will help.

Fair Play

Post by The Biff »

Fair play to yez lads and lassies for managing to put a "positive spin" on the outcome of last Sunday.

'Tis true that we are ot yet ready for the Cats, at least not on this display. I agree that we must be ruthless in the match with the Dubs. There is no more room for error or complacency. Dublin were caught on the hop by Westmeath but that alone does not make them a bad team, no more that last Sunday makes ours thus.

We need to get back on a roll, play weel against Dublin and beat them emphatically. Dont worry if this gees up Limerick as possibly they may have their back to the wall at that stage with a possible defeat behind them. In those circumstances, they will be at "do-or-die" point while we should have a win in the bag. We have definitely been lucky with the order of the games. Now we have to grab that luck and convert into 2 or even 3 wins. It can be done.
