this position is basically a glorified secretary.

that is not what is needed in the county
They should minimally have graphic design and web design skills.
What about giving the administrator a success based contract based on growing the county board's revenue? from advertising, match ticket sales, sponsorship, fundraising events.
Give them a full time PRO, GAA promotion officer role with running of the website, matchday programs, media interaction.
this person will effectively be using up more funds, but with no direction to try and generate more funds to cover their own job, nor more funds for Offaly gaa.

OF - was your offer made six years ago or was it an offer to fill the admin role a few months ago or was it just an offer for the job that you claim was outlined at a CB meeting where the admin job would also have a part to play in a strategic plan (which was never the case by the way!) and I've asked you before - who did you make your offer to (6yrs ago or whenever)?

MFD - Yes, this is an administrator role and was never to be anything else and yes it's not going to fix everything. However, as the Offaly website is a CMS (content management system - pretty common system) no graphic design or web design skills are required to keep it updated and have it fully functional. Also, you do realise that we already have Finance and PR committee's already in place to fulfill the roles that you have outlined?

Anyway, I would expect that a large portion of the funding is coming from Leinster Council specifically for the role and is not money that we have a choice to do something else with (like with our coaches?). But as both of you are complaining so much about the funding can you tell me where the funding is coming from and what the actual cost to the county is? I'm genuinely interested in the breakdown as I don't think we should be just throwing our money around as you both seem to be suggesting is happening.

So in all that time when you were harping on about a waste of Offaly GAA funds you had no idea what you were on about?

There may be a number of issues at county board level but transparency is certainly not one of them.

In most successful and well run voluntary organisations, the committees who come up with ideas and suggestions usually have a full time person to implement those ideas - finance, promotion, budgeting etc
