Looks like the Minor hurling could be held up for a while, the future of St.Davids is up in the air after Croke Park ruled that players who play in A championship with an amalgamation cannot play for their own clubs in the B championship!

This leaves players with a very hard choice to make!

Whether St.Davids appeal this decision or not remains to be seen!

After the Croke Park ruling it now appears that St.Davids wont be entering a team in the minor A championship thats just what I'm hearing from rumours after the last county board meeting!

Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

Would this mean that the Ballinamere Og amalgamation would also have the same problem when next years U21 championship starts?

yes the under 21 set up could be effected next year. i think there could of being a objection put in but the u21 matches went ahead or something like that. its hard to believe county champs 2009 putting in a objection for not being able to field a team. well if so the future isnt looking good. clara should probally be in the A championship this year but arent.
the setup in the county is discraceful and the county board are a discrace. they are now stopping oung lads from hurling and is all the training they have done upto this going to go to waste.
every year there is a kick up about that davids team and still hasnt been sorted for the last 5 years or more. what is going to be done???

Ya lads i tink that the ST davivs amalgamation have decided in the intrest of all the minor players invovled , that they wont field a team in the A champ and instead each club will field a team in the B instead.
this gives alot more players a chance to play hurling this year, albeit at a lower grade for most of them. Tink that will only leave 5/6 teams in the A champ. This saga shouldhave been sorted before july.

Is there no way around this would lads not improve playing A championship rather than B are we not struggling enough at under age hurling. The 3 or 4 good players from these clubs will get noting from playing B championship and make time to play B championship for the other lads.

Totally agree 'blue biffo' but it looks as if Croke Park will have the final say on this! Tullamore want the Ballinamere/Durrow lads to play with them in the'A' but it looks like that wont happen either as Ballinamere will go on their own in the 'B' championship!

However if Clara were able to win the U16 'B' on their own two years ago they should be able to field a team and compete at a decent level in the 'A' championship this year!

Agree Puzzled, does anybody know what the format is for the minor A and B champ this year or are the co. board keeping it a secret and goin to announce the
group stages to start the day before the county final :D .
Did Clara even look to play in the A champ or were they happy to sit back and say noting and hope to pick up a B title with the idea of just develloping their best players by letting them play A with St Davids . Not the ideal way to help the club progress in hurling , me tinks.
