ah stop, wouldnt have a ballinamere player on a senior club team, never mind the county team. Big difference between Intermediate & senior hurling

What did shamrocks do in the knockout stages last year, Group stage counted for nothing last year as tullamore proved.

I think this topic is going nowhere fast.

i take it you weren't in galway last weekend so if you think they are offaly's best player's.
as for birr doing nothing last year they were going for their second 5-in-a-row in 11 year's.
not that ballinamere would know anything about winning county final's.

i could pick a team from pub's in birr that would hurl ballinamere, so go way you WUM.

Realistically for hurling to prosper in predominately football clubs in North Offaly, the clubs would need to develop two separate panels of players for each sport. I suspect the squeeze may come on certain Brosna Gael dual players whenever their football clubs feel they can make a push for football honours.

A lot of clubs in the north of the county probably feel they are stretched as it is in football and won't want to divert too many resources into improving their hurling. Clubs with a big population to choose from like Tullamore are the exception.

If you told a north Offaly club that 3 or 4 years hard work would either make them senior football title contender, or else senior hurling championship survivors, they would pick the former.
For the moment, amalgamations or regional teams would seem the best way to try and improve things.

ah well theres no point in saying ye could have won the 5 in a row last year at the end of the day ye didnt.. all that matters now is that the sean robbins cup is back where it belongs, in the home of hurling.. NORTH OFFALY.. ok lenisterman I know theres still a bit of hurt up in birr after last years dismal displays and maybe ye could win it this year perhaps the likelyhood of that occuring is pretty bleak in my opinion.. .. but were all friends here and i dont want to be accused of being a wind up merchaint or as ye like to call it a "WUM"..
