Tommy Lyons Comments on Ferbane & Clara!!!
That's harsh redser. John Reynolds is a nice lad, who I think tries his best. He is physically the smallest of the Shapers I would say, and that means he can't bull his way into a game when he is off form. I'd say he could be a very useful to Offaly if he hits form again.
He is a hard little worker in winning ball when he plays in the half forward line I think.
My favourite Shaper story concerns Mk II versus Meath in Croker back in the early 90s I'd say. Willie was only a young lad and came on marking Mick Lyons, with a mandate to 'run him'. Now Offaly were not getting the ball past half way at this stage, but Wille felt he had to show cause.
After several darts from the FF position out to the Hogan Stand, and back to the Cusack, without any sign of interest from Mick, Wille decided to take one more mad run out to the Hogan.
As he took off, Lyons doughbarred him with a clothesline which knocked Willie on the flat of his back. Lyons stood over him and said, 'Would you for jaysus sake stand still, you're making me dizzy looking at you '
