Was at the shinrone. Belmont game in birr some serious amount of wides
Entertaining yes
Quality is questionable probably
Belmont wanted it more
Not to sure what to make of the shinrone team set up
They can look good then poor.
Nice to see tulllamore shooting for the stars again..
Offaly hurling needs competitive teams
The problem is to do that every year .
Mind you no hurling should start late than 6 pm without lights this time of year
I feel sorry for the keepers
The light is gone by 8pm, and will go back further as the year continues.
I see KK had a test cricket score v Kinnitty today.

Also, David Nally is currently on course for HOTY.
By a long shot but unless Belmont at least made the final it's hard to see him being given it.
He wouldn't be far off FOTY so far either.
He's out to prove a point to the Offaly management.

Coolderry will beat Tullamore. But Birr will beat Ballinamere. Birr will win group and go to semi finals.
K/K will put up a cricket score vs Kinnitty and beat Shinrone to win group on score difference.
K/K and Birr through to semi finals.
Quarter Finals:
Coolderry vs Shinrone
Belmont vs Ballinamere
Can’t see Birr beating Ballinamere.

For the lurker who asked me earlier today if Tullamore had played Coolderry much since the 1964 semi-final. Well, they played three more times before Tullamore's relegation after 1977, three times in the 1990s, four times in the 00s, four times in the 10s, and most recently last year. So 12 times since Tullamore were promoted in 1990.
Tullamore's previous wins over Coolderry were: 1932 Final, 1935, 1937 Final, 1959 final replay and 1964 semi-final.

Well, Tullamore haven't beaten Coolderry in the SHC since 1964's semi-final, so we'll see.

Tullamore won’t fear coolderry the next day and hopefully get the win to qualify for the quarter finals but there has been a huge improvement in Tullamore this year under Shane Hand

How many years since Tullamore last beat Seir Kieran? I remember a drawn game in the early 2010s in Lusmagh I believe, and another draw maybe 4-5 years ago in the senior B championship but it must be a similar timeline to Coolderry since Tullamore's last victory. Point is, history and heritage has very little meaning, as shown by Ballinamere in previous years and by Tullamore themselves in 09/10.

It's 18 days since Tullamore beat Seir Kieran. Do keep up.
And given that Tullamore have roughly 40 times Clareen's population, a run rate of a win roughly every 25 years isn't hectic.
And hey - never, ever write off Coolderry!

Tullamore are at home to Coolderry in their next match, I am told, but the Ballinamere game was in O’Brien Park. Where will the match be played?

Can't see Tullamore beating coolderry this year, but over the next ten years I can see Tullamore beating kinnitty, seir kieran, coolderry and St rynaghs judging by what's coming trough at underage level at the moment. Time will ultimately tell.

The overall consistency and competitiveness of their underage results would certainly suggest this.
However this big unknown with Tullamore hurling will always be how many of their best underage hurlers will ultimately concentrate on senior football. However, the club has a big enough population that they should be comfortably good senior a teams in both codes.
Although other clubs might chafe at the suggestion, the crucial importance of a strong Tullamore in both codes to Offaly GAA and our inter county teams can not be overstated. The Offaly hurling team in particular could really do with getting to a point where 1-3 players of the starting 15 are from by far its largest urban area/Tullamore.

Tullamore is a dual club, football is the big thing. Two county titles in successive years, and you see the challenges for hurling.

Thanks Plain, I think you know what I meant... By the same logic Edenderry should be beating Coolderry and Daingean should have enough for Lusmagh...

Clodiagh Gaels defeat Coolderry tonight, in relegation match.

Lots of permutations in Group 1 this afternoon but for me the most likely scenario results in wins for Birr and
Coolderry which would leave the top 3 as
1. Birr
2. Coolderry
3. Ballinamere.
From Coolderry’s perspective they are in a bit of a mad situation. By 4pm they could be group winners and directly through to a semi-final where they would (most likely) avoid K/K or they could be eliminated from the championship.
In Group 2 Kinnitty vs St Rynaghs should be a hard hitting affair. Expect no quarter given or taken by eother side. A surprise Kinnitty win is not out of the equation. A hesitant not to Ryngahs though.
