Rynaghs will be tested without luke O Connor who's gone to New York for the summer..

It's very hard to call
How is that panning out ?? 😂
Not great so far but long way to go🤣🤣

Anyone see any team sheets for the Senior A matches at least? Don’t seem to see on any of the Offaly GAA social media pages.

I also think St Rynaghs and Shinrone will top their groups.

Despite Shinrone’s well publicised failures at knockout level they have an excellent group stage record over the last decade.

It might seem strange to say it but at the moment, for me, Shinrone and Ballinamere are the strongest teams in that group.

Yeah I would agree with that. Coolderry could be under pressure.

I agree that Coolderry could be under pressure.

Age profile wouldn’t be great (if a little over exaggerated).

Also their 2015 and 2018 county final appearances were followed by terrible seasons in 2016 and 2019 so it’s a possibility.

Their game vs Ballinamere will give us clarification of where they are at?

I also think it's not a given that Birr make the QF while on paper they should beat Kinnitty and CG. The performance v Rynaghs has asked a few questions yet again of the level they are at.

For me they should have too much still so it should he

Banagher
KK
Birr

Shinrone
Ballinamere
Belmont

write off Coolderry at your peril as they say, they got good momentum towards end of last years championship and probably played their best game in the county final which they will claim they were so unfortunate to loose. First game out against Belmont on Sunday was surprising to loose but not a massive shock either if one puts in perspective that Belmont had a game under their belts..Regarding Shinrone, maybe they might be better off getting through the group stage without shootinng the lights out and save a bit of fire in their bellies for the knockoutstages..some knock them big time, but remember KK lost their fair share of semifinals and knock out games too before eventually gettinng over the line, so Ide be watching them too. It is an open championship enough...hard to know with Birr, I thought they would be a tad better this year..interesting to see how they regroup now as all their games a must wins as such. CG will cause a problem for a few teams yet too..

DSK have been disqualified from the U20 championship for playing an underage player in their one point win over Carrig & Riverstown/Crinkill on Tuesday. Carrig & Riverstown /Crinkill will now play Tullamore in the quarter final

never a lover of seeing young players playing up a grade (when you have eligible players of age sitting on the bench) but I suppose it always happens in the GAA..a bit harsh throwing out an under age team I think...

A replay would maybe be fairer but rules are rules. I agree there was no need to play that young lad. Both teams were missing a few and numbers were tight but that’s still no excuse

From the rumours circulating around, DSK were unaware of the rule which prevents a player playing 2 age grades (16yo playing u17 and u20) and this is where they got caught out.!
They also only had 15 players togged out as, likewise with CRC, a few lads had gone on a Post Leaving Cert holiday out foreign which makes it difficult to compete given small numbers.
Unfortunate outcome given the exciting hurling that was displayed at times by both set of players.
