But it's not criticism, lads giving out about not giving a point when it was clearly wide. Lads giving out for a goal been disallowed for a pull across the head. Any form of abuse is wrong and should not happen. Would You do that to a work colleague, random person on the street?. People do realise that there is an incredible shortage of refs in the county and country wide?. If a player makes mistakes, he's not told he should never play again.
You're conflating criticism with abuse.
As was said, abuse is spewed from the stands at every game you attend nowadays including underage and nobody says anything to those spewing it yet a bit of criticism on here is considered heresy.
Anyway I think my point was that if the reporters at the games actually critiqued ref's when they make a clanger then I think that would take a lot of the sting out of it. Seeing it said that X or Y had a wonderful game with no issues when he/she ref'd a game littered with mistakes just invites more criticism.
And, I totally disagree with your final point. You'll often read in a report that a player was "out of sorts" or "had an off day" etc but when do you ever see the same said about a referee?

Great comeback for The Blues in Birr this evening.
Would be great to see Cormac Egan on the senior hurling panel at some stage. He really has that x-factor.
I'm curious, who else has potentially put their hand up for call up to the senior hurling panel next year?

Great comeback by Tullamore to snatch a draw
Attitude and work rate and some great goals got Tullamore that result .
In saying that Birr should have been out of sight at half time and hit some shocking wides and were ten points up in the second half.
It probably raises more questions for Birr than for Tullamore
Tullamore won’t fear coolderry the next day and hopefully get the win to qualify for the quarter finals but there has been a huge improvement in Tullamore this year under Shane Hand

Can’t comment on the match but I really do think they should give promoted teams a 2 year stay, tullamore could be playing senior b this year but have instead driven on which from a neutral is fantastic. They have a good blend of youth and lads with a good few miles on the clock.
If kk weren’t in the championship it would be very open and hard to call a winner at this stage.

A 2 year stay sounds great in theory but how would it work practically?
If a team just promoted is in the relegation final they just get to stay up without playing it and the other unlucky team goes straight down?

Well done tullamore they certainly have improved, Birr will still question how they never came away with full points.
The only thing i would say is it highlights some of their weaknesses at the right time with couple lads to come in and make a difference.
That group is still wide open to see who goes through to a semi.
Cormac Egan really showed intercounty speed last 20 minutes to cause Birr problems. Good entertaining game to be fair.

Well, Tullamore haven't beaten Coolderry in the SHC since 1964's semi-final, so we'll see.

Well the majority of the younger lads on this team have a record of beating coolderry . So the coolderry fear factor isn’t there for them I take ur point re not beating them at senior but that’s gonna change someday so why not the next day .Coolderry will be under more pressure than Tullamore I think anyway. Either way Shane hand has Tullamore moving in the right direction

Beating Coolderry at underage level, is way different than Senior Hurling.
Tullamore have to overturn 60 years of defeat.
Good to see Tullamore hurling is having a revival.

Coolderry will beat Tullamore. But Birr will beat Ballinamere. Birr will win group and go to semi finals.
K/K will put up a cricket score vs Kinnitty and beat Shinrone to win group on score difference.
K/K and Birr through to semi finals.
Quarter Finals:
Coolderry vs Shinrone
Belmont vs Ballinamere

Did I see Belmont defeated Shinrone yesterday? A bit of an upset.

Was at the shinrone. Belmont game in birr some serious amount of wides
Entertaining yes
Quality is questionable probably
Belmont wanted it more
Not to sure what to make of the shinrone team set up
They can look good then poor.
Nice to see tulllamore shooting for the stars again..
Offaly hurling needs competitive teams
The problem is to do that every year .
Mind you no hurling should start late than 6 pm without lights this time of year
I feel sorry for the keepers
