As for KK they still aren’t humming the way they were this time last year, if they do go on to win out Offaly I’m not sure I can see them going any further in Leinster than they did last year which would have been the goal at the beginning of the year.

What decisions were questionable?

I thought overall the referee was poor , kinitty sideline seem to dictate what was a free and what wasn’t

There was a point not given when the umpire waved it but because kinitty sideline started to roar and shout

The ref decided to consult with the linesman

on top of that it one of the kinitty management team were making there way over to make his opinion heard directly to the umpire

And you can say the opposite too…kinitty got a goal potential free in the build up not given until after they hit the net then the ref consulted the umpires so he pulled it back for a Belmont free

He was right up with play at that time

I thought he was poor for both sides

The second game the ref stop play out of nowhere to give a yellow for dissent then he didn’t know what to do with the play after that

It surely should have been an indirect free for Kk but he gave a throw in but definitely wasn’t sure on what he was doing , he let his frustrations get the better of him

Any level of abuse, or personal commentary, about referees, players, volunteers or anyone is too much, and won't be tolerated on uibhfhaili.com. The fact that worse might happen elsewhere is not what matters; in this house, we keep our own standards.

That being said, discussion about a particular decision in a game is perfectly reasonable. Forwards hit wides, goalkeepers let the ball slip through their fingers, defenders get caught the wrong side, anyone can make a mistake, and referees are no exception.

So discussing red cards, frees, black cards, an approach to overcarrying, goals awarded and disallowed or anything like that, is fine. Saying you believe a referee had a good game or a bad game is fine. I would even go so far as to say that a referee is the right or wrong person to be allocated to a certain game is fine, as long as it's based on publicly known facts, and not perceptions of bias. So to use myself as an example in order to avoid controversy, I'm a Ferbane native but I'm now a member of the St. Aidan's club. My wife and all her family are from St. Brigid's so it's not unreasonable to say that if I was a referee, I shouldn't referee St. Brigid's games. Likewise, I clearly shouldn't referee a game where one of the teams is playing St. Aidan's next, and if I have cause to consider showing a red card, it'll be perceived as bias if I go ahead with it and a player gets suspended.

Where it crosses the line is when it goes into saying that a referee is no good and shouldn't get any games at a certain level, or to say that a referee has a bias AGAINST a club because he doesn't like them etc., or (as in this case) saying that a referee shouldn't be put in charge of games involving a certain club because of something that happened before. That's personal, it's not on, and it's grossly unfair on any referee to put it out there.

And most of all, anything that certain gobshites might shout from a terrace at a referee at a game doesn't move the dial on that front at all.
