Surely offaly ran the bench in the second half thats some score to concede in one half

Both teams did. Kk started 2nd half with 1-5 to a point in first 7 or 8 minutes. Offaly rallied then kk took over. Kk have some very big men.
I think 4 u20s played. Kavanagh, hoare, ravenhill, Shirley.

Good first half , fell apart in the second half. Billy Ryan and co that came on opened us right up in defence. Kilkenny way more bulked up, we wouldn’t want to go back to old habits of conceding 5-6 goals in games, whilst only a challenge shipping big hidings benefit no one

Who was in goals for the second half?

Liam was in goals after about ten minutes into 2nd half. Kk had a lad who came on, 19 years of age. Bigger than anyone on the offaly team. Scored a goal. Size is going to be an issue.

Excellent first half display by Offaly, puck outs were a little off which forced a lot of turnovers to Kilkenny, especially at a time where we were on top in the game. During the second half Kilkenny brought on more experienced players while some basics errors led to cheap turnovers and ultimately scores for KK at the other end of the field. Ultimately Offaly were missing far more regulars through colleges, injuries and rest as opposed to Kilkenny and this showed in the second half. We did run the bench in the second half, but you have to take into account Offaly played arguably without 4 of their starting 6 defenders, the age profile of Kilkenny is between 25-32 generally, with most players playing with 5+ years of senior experience at the highest level. We have a way some way to go, and we're under no illusions about that, but, there's encouraging signs and some of the recent U20's look to be accomplished seniors seniors already. The biggest compliment on the day was the KK management feared an upset and wanted to lay a marker of sorts ahead of the championship and not let us gain any confidence in pushing Kilkenny. At least that's my reading of the game.

I’m wore out saying it
I note an ex player (although arguably one of our greatest ever) was in the media lately saying he thinks s&c is overly emphasised. Hopefully that attitude isn’t overly prevalent in the circles that matter.

The difference in puck outs when hoare come on was noticeable.
We need a bit more legs are the middle of the field couple lads have been there a while looked very leggy.

It's not, people involved with all the teams know the importance. I think ex players from a time long gone should be respected but in general, ignored.

I presume that is Marty Murphy from Tullogher?
I don’t think any amount of S&C is going to make our lads 6 foot 6 like him.
He was well marshalled by Ben Miller in the u20 last year, finishing with 2 points.
He’s also as slow as a wet week.

I suppose with proper s-c he'll become more conditioned and possibly faster as he gets older. The other kk lads, even the small lads looked very well on in their development which takes years to achieve.
