Girvan Dempsey is a biffo too

Post by the bare biffo »

RTE radio did a piece last night on Girvan Dempsey.
Turns out both his parents are from Kinnity and Girvan played in an U-11 Cummann na mBunscoil hurling final in Croke Park. His mudder was on talking about all the time they spent in Croker in the early eighties between the hurlers and footballers.
"The ball may pass, but the man, never."

We're very proud of our Girvan. Great to have a Kinnitty man representing us in Croke Park this weekend. It's been a while.

I've seen him on the Hill following the cause before, to be fair to the man. Not against Dublin, but even so....

Girvan mentioned before in interviews about how he follows Offaly, though in recent years he hasn't gotten to as many matches as he used to.

He always came across as a well grounded individual (obviously, having Offaly parents), certainly not a hint of Ross O'Carroll-Kelly-ism about him at all.

During the pre-match analysis, Tom McGurk or whatever you call him mentioned that he played with Offaly, can anyone confirm this?

No he never played for Offaly. Played for his primary school (Terenure) in a Cumann na mBunscoil final in Croke Park in hurling.
