I'd have the other rafferty in there in the back also - the lad that came in as sub and broke up the Kildare lad last summer.

Aidan Keenaghan - Is he a relation of the once great, but injury plagued Mel?

He is indeed - younger brother of the same, with equally powerful knees - so we should get the most out of him while we can!!

As for Mooney and Kelleghan, Mooney is unfortunate for my own little hypothetical situation in that I hate the idea of attacking players wearing jerseys 2,3,4 or 6, and the competition for what is effectively one wing back slot is so strong right now. I'll put it to you another way - I'd also consider him as a second option for the Scott Brady role. He's tough enough, he'd track well, defend stoutly and offer something as a ball handler and distributer from there. Still, Scott is working out there, so until he plays his way out of the number 10 jersey, it's his to keep.

Paschal is another matter. His free roving role that he plays for Rhode is a luxury Offaly can't afford, not when we already need to a sacrifice a forward to support our woeful midfield. His lazy way of tackling means that he runs the risk of a really cheap red card every game he plays (he should have got two last year by rights) , and I personally don't think he contributes enough from free play to justify a role around the middle. As for picking him as a forward, there are just too many guys I'd have ahead of him right now.

I may be wrong but my recall is that it was Ger Rafferty who decided to send that poor Kildare fella into the middle of next week.

My team would be

Meehan
Rafferty G
Quinn
Grennan
B Mooney
Sullivan
Slattery
J Keane
AMacNamee
SBrady
Big Mac
Guinan - may not be on the panel but is our best scoring forward
Deehan
NCoughlan
NMacNamee

Kelly - experience counts for a lot here

G Rafferty - Strong
Quinn - Front runner right now
Grennan - Is in pole position but to me never looks solid
Byrne - Looks good right now for here
Sullivan - He the best fit right now for here
Slattery - No comment needed
McNamee - Best midfielder we have in the county (it's a poor pool)
N Coughlan - Strong, Fit
S Brady - Seems to be working out well right now
Mac - Distribution may be a questions
Kelleghan - Makes the Half forward line strong
Deehan - No comment needed.
McNamee - No comment needed
Casey - Lets load up the forward line
