Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
After watching the game on Sunday I was thinking to myself yesterday how poor a final it was and how average the club championship was
Shinrone were well beaten by Naas a few years ago they pulled the shinrone backs all over the place
I reckon KK will get the same treatment KK are not that good at the back
I wish them kK well for the good of offaly hurling

KK must have thought they won the lotto when Ballinamere decided to lump high ball down on them all afternoon, Kiely was allowed to sit and clean up and the full back lines job became a lot easierSuperhans75 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2026 4:59 am After watching the game on Sunday I was thinking to myself yesterday how poor a final it was and how average the club championship was

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
At half-time, TG4 posted a graphic with some telling statistics.
Killoughey had 71% possession; Ballinamere had 29%.
Ballinamere won just 5 of their own 20 puckouts. Meanwhile Killoughey won 5 of their 7. Winning the ball 7 times from a total of 27 (that’s 26%) left Ballinamere starved of possession.
Killoughey had 20 scoring attempts (scoring 10), while Ballinamere had 8 (taking 6). Taking this in the aggregate, there were 16 scores from 28 attempts, with just 0-7 scored from play leading to a lack of fluency. I wouldn't blame Matthew Farrell either - he perhaps felt he needed to keep a lid on things.
They hadn’t time to post something similar at full-time, it would be interesting to see how the second half went.
Finally cómhgairdeas to Ter for doing his TG4 interview trí Gaeilge after the game. It was brilliant to see. Maith thú, Ter.

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

Clodiagh Geals up first in Leinster Intermediate against Wicklow Senior Champs Carnew Emmets, Sat afternoon, i dont know enough about Carnew Emmets other then they have gone back to back in Wicklow. anyone know what there chances are ?. you'd expect they should be capable of winning, but Offaly clubs dont have a great record in this competition, i think Seir Kieran made the final a few years back.

The Offaly Independent sports preview, has Carnew as slight favourites, as they like the heavier ground conditions, when the Leinster club championships are played.Fear Uibh wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2026 12:50 pm Clodiagh Geals up first in Leinster Intermediate against Wicklow Senior Champs Carnew Emmets, Sat afternoon, i dont know enough about Carnew Emmets other then they have gone back to back in Wicklow. anyone know what there chances are ?. you'd expect they should be capable of winning, but Offaly clubs dont have a great record in this competition, i think Seir Kieran made the final a few years back.
Clodiagh Gaels will have a battle on their hands, the weather forecast tomorrow is for rain and wind. Throw in is at 1.30pm in Glenisk O'Connor Park.

and if ferbane won and ballinamere they would make a better shot at leinster than tullamore and kk .DurrowBoy17 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2026 4:37 pm A terrible county final.
Both sets of teams rolling around looking for frees, particularly Ballinamere. Not helped by whistle friendly Reff.
No more than Tullamore last week, KK probably the weakest they’ve been in 4 years and still won without looking like going into top gear.
4 in a row for KK.
4 in a row for Tullamore.
With both looking like they won’t make much of a dent in Leinster.
Not good at all for Offaly lads, not good at all.
Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
don't know why all the kk bashing comes from they won a final without one of the best forwards in offaly in charlie mitchell add in jordan quinn out as well. as for Naas good team but there knocking around a while now with no leinster title to show after 7 years coming out of kildare.
i give kk a good chance of beating them they have the bones of all ireland winners in Brecon Kavangh, James Mahon,
Ter Guinan, Colin Spain, Dan Hand, Leigh Kavanagh, Adam Screeney, add in Conor Slevin Cillian Kiely, Conor Mahon two Geraghtys, thats as good or better than what Naas have.

Carnew were shock winners in Wicklow last year, beating the mighty Bray Emmets who were on for 7 in a row.Fear Uibh wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2026 12:50 pm Clodiagh Geals up first in Leinster Intermediate against Wicklow Senior Champs Carnew Emmets, Sat afternoon, i dont know enough about Carnew Emmets other then they have gone back to back in Wicklow. anyone know what there chances are ?. you'd expect they should be capable of winning, but Offaly clubs dont have a great record in this competition, i think Seir Kieran made the final a few years back.
Bray won Leinster in 2022 and lost the 2023 final to Thomastown, who went on to win Kilkenny Senior 10 months later.
Carnew were favs v Ratoath in Leinster last year but suffered a shock 10 point defeat after being reduced to 13 men.
Ratoath then went on to beat Lusmagh and threw away the Leinster final v Danesfort.
Bray had a great record in Leinster in the years before that and you’d imagine that Carnew will be more focused on Leinster this year - last year had been their first title since 2009.
Clodiagh Gaels 13/8 and Carnew 8/15 seems about right.

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
Is this not incredibly poor from offaly county board?
Why wasn't the junior put back to next week and allow clodaigh gaels give it a proper go?
There is no rush to play the junior is there?

Would putting back the Junior have helped? Surely it was a case of losing lads from the junior grade if they played at the higher level today?private joker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 8:55 pm Is this not incredibly poor from offaly county board?

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
It's a separate competition. Has no relevance to offaly competition. Clodaigh gaels used 1 sub and had their manager down as a sub.
Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
Surely to God Clodiagh Gaels should have done all they could to win the game yesterday, made whatever subs were required & worried about the Junior after that.
Ridiculous
You don’t get to hurl in Leinster too often
