It’s a flawed championship. Some teams got a tougher draw after winning. SBK a prime example. Giving a walkover to CRCC ment they avoided Kk until the final. It should be a straight knockout format from now on.greenairfield wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2026 3:49 am Bit of a joke a team that gave a walk over are in a final probably needs to be looked at

Fantastic under 20 final finishes in a draw 4-22 each. Brilliant fare served up by both teams

One of the great U20 finals. Well done to both teams. Was a pleasure to have been there.

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
Exciting final yesterday some really good scores and some really bad play as well
Draw a fair result.
My big issue yesterday was throwing of the ball yesterday but some players some would qualify for the Olympics
Referee was very poor not picking them out it was the same culprit a few dodgy points I noticed at Camcor side of the ground the umpires got a few scores wrong which one was picked up by the linesman 60 feet away
Looking forward to the Replay

Are you suggesting that players are emigrating because there is a 3 week break before a county final replay?Superhans75 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2026 3:35 am Replay 31 st October long time for the SBK players to wait I wonder if the powers that be are on a different planet

In an underage competition?
Where one side is involved in the senior county final?
In a competition that plays second fiddle to every other competition?

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
I'm not going to get into a pointless argument but young lads deserve a life
Some of them will be involved with 3 rd level and hopefully U20 county system.
What time the have to be a normal young man social life ect is very limited
I hardly think it's a pointless competition
To be honest how many senior B teams are going to lift the Sean Robbins in the next decade?
U20 competitions are very important in
Either codes for the county set up .
Maybe a novel idea but make a under 23 competition which is a 70.minute game
Which would definitely suit the development of county players are actually help the clubs long term

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
The U20 championship needs to be a straight knockout format. This will get rid of walkovers and make for better games. I remember a few years back the final wasn’t played until November/December. It’s not ideal they have to wait a few weeks for the replay but it is what it is. Not a huge deal

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
Actually played in December a few years ago in banagher
I think there should be more effort out into the U20 system because helps develop players camaderie than them playing intermediate games which the age group can be anything up to mid to late 30s..let's face it some are old enough to be there dad's ..

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
Well done SBK
Unlucky for kk
Should have been another replay
In my opinion
U20; championship was better than the senior in my books
Not too many future county players in both teams in my opinion
But you never know
Qudious for the referee for not bringing the cards out

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
Agree about the replay. I would gladly have paid to see another game between both these teams. Didn't see enough of the under 20 championship or senior championship to judge one against the other but saw both finals and the two under 20 finals were Streets ahead of the senior finals. Can't understand how our county minor teams of the last few years have been so poor looking at what both these teams served up over the two days. I've read a lot of criticism on this forum about the minor management and would find it very to disagree with it.Superhans75 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2026 6:06 pm Well done SBK

Re: Offaly U20 Hurling Championship
Lads blaming managers again.
Leo was over offaly 20s this year noting to do with Brian Carroll.
A quick count 9/10 players played today who were on his team who lost to kilkenny by 25 pts. Only two of them played under carroll.
Great match great hurling but outside of Offaly these lads struggle against top counties.
